Since the year 2001, December 24 has been World Sousveillance Day with groups of participants in New York, Toronto, Boston, Florida, Vancouver, Japan, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Sousveillance of a state by its citizens has been credited with addressing many problems such as election fraud or electoral misdeeds, as well as providing good governance.

Sousveillance has a community-based origin, such as a personal electronic diary ( or weblog ), made public on the World Wide Web.

In 2004 he won the Leonardo Award for Excellence for his article " Existential Technology ," published in Leonardo 36: 1.
