Southall Broadway, a predominantly Asian area in London, where less than 12 percent of the population is white, has been cited as an example of a ' ghetto ', but in reality the area is home to a number of different ethnic groups and religious groups.

Hanwell is a town situated in the London Borough of Ealing in west London, between Ealing and Southall.

This canal and flight of locks are actually within the boundary of Southall but are named after the local village of Hanwell, which is much closer than either of the villages of Norwood or Southall.

Hanwell is divided between two parliamentary constituencies: Ealing North ( which covers Hanwell north of the railway line to Paddington ), represented since 1997 by Labour MP Stephen Pound, and Ealing Southall ( south of the railway line ), represented since 2007 by Labour MP Virendra Sharma.

Currently the site, now referred to as the Southall Railway Centre, is used by three independent groups, including Locomotive Services ( where volunteers can contribute to the preservation and restoration of mainline locomotives ) and the Great Western Railway Preservation Group.

Southall is primarily a South Asian residential district, sometimes known as " Little India ".

His recording studio is in Southall where he produced many Bhangra hits for local Southall bands during the 1980s and where he continues to produce music.

Southall formed part of the chapelry of Norwood in the ancient parish of Hayes, in the Elthorne hundred of Middlesex.

Uxbridge Road was part of the main London to Oxford stagecoach route for many years and remained the main route to Oxford until the building of the Western Avenue highway to the north of Southall in the first half of the 20th century.

The land comprising Cherokee Park was originally part of a military land grant in 1773 to James Southall and Richard Charlton.

The band consisted of singer Malcolm Owen, guitarist Paul Fox, bass player John " Segs " Jennings and drummer Dave Ruffy and were active in anti-racist causes as part of the Misty in Roots People Unite collective based in Southall, West London and playing several benefits for Rock Against Racism.

The main operators at the bus station include First West Yorkshire, Arriva Yorkshire and Centrebus with other services run by Geldards Coaches, Transdev in Keighley, Stagecoach Yorkshire and TLC Travel, National Express coaches run nationwide from the station, Bharat Coaches run coach services to Derby, Leicester, Slough and Southall and Megabus runs services to Burnley, Halifax, Huddersfield, Skipton and East Midlands Parkway railway station ( with train connections to London St Pancras railway station ) as part of its Megabusplus service.

West Ealing was in the parliamentary constituency of Ealing Southall ( represented since 2007 by Labour Member of Parliament Virendra Sharma ) until boundary changes for the 2010 general election moved Walpole into the newly-formed Ealing Central and Acton constituency ( represented since 2010 by Conservative MP Angie Bray ).

Following its review of parliamentary representation in North London, the Boundary Commission for England made some changes to Ealing, Southall.

Avtar Lit stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Ealing Southall parliamentary constituency in the 2001 General Election.

Southall is in the London Assembly constituency of Ealing and Hillingdon which has one assembly member: Richard Barnes ( Conservative ), who was re-elected in May 2008.

Part of Greenford Broadway ward, along with tiny parts of Hobbayne ward and Dormers Wells ward were transferred from Ealing North to the constituency of Ealing Southall.

It would have run along the A4020, the Uxbridge Road, through Acton, Ealing, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall and Hayes End.

The London borough was formed in 1965 by the merging the area of the Municipal Borough of Ealing, the Municipal Borough of Southall and the Municipal Borough of Acton from Middlesex

Southall is made up of five electoral wards for local council elections: Dormers Wells, Lady Margaret, Norwood Green, Southall Broadway and Southall Green, which all elect councillors to Ealing Council.

In surrounding suburbs there are two mosques in Acton, one in West Ealing, and two in Southall.

Ealing also boasts a successful local running club in Ealing, Southall & Middlesex AC.

Shepherd's Bush was also the proposed terminus of the West London Tram, an on-street light rail line running to Uxbridge via Acton, Ealing and Southall.

The old route ( via Acton, Ealing, Southall, Hayes, Hillingdon and Uxbridge ) was renumbered the A4020.

Piara Singh Khabra ( 20 November 1921 – 19 June 2007 ) was a British politician who served as the Labour Member of Parliament ( MP ) for Ealing Southall from 1992 until his death.
