In 1967, Gygax co-founded the International Federation of Wargamers ( IFW ) with Bill Speer and Scott Duncan.

The alliance was shaky at best, mainly because during this period Himmler was still cooperating with Bormann to gain more power at the expense of Göring and most of the traditional Reich administration ; Göring's loss of power had resulted in an overindulgence in the trappings of power and his strained relations with Goebbels made it difficult for a unified coalition to be formed, despite the attempts of Speer and Göring's Luftwaffe deputy Field Marshal Erhard Milch, to reconcile the two Party comrades.

As Germany ’ s military and economic situation grew steadily worse during 1944, Goebbels renewed his push, in alliance with Speer, to wrest control of the home front away from Göring.

It was Goebbels, besieged in his Berlin flat with Speer and secretary Wilfred von Oven beside him but with his phone lines intact, who brought Otto Ernst Remer, the wavering commander of the Berlin garrison, to the phone to speak to Hitler in East Prussia, thus demonstrating that the Führer was alive and that the garrison should oppose the attempted coup.

On August 26, 1943, Albert Speer called a meeting with Hans Kammler, Dornberger, Gerhard Degenkolb, and Karl Otto Saur to negotiate the move of A-4 main production to an underground factory in the Harz mountains.

It includes interviews with many key figures including Karl Dönitz, Albert Speer, and Anthony Eden.

As the U-boats continued to be the arm of the Kriegsmarine that was doing most of the fighting, by 1942 Raeder was becoming increasingly overshadowed by Admiral Karl Dönitz, who made little secret of his contempt for the " battleship admiral " Raeder, and started to act more and more independently, for instance, dealing directly with Albert Speer in settling construction targets for the U-boats.

Arno Breker's 1939 neoclassical sculpture Die Partei ( The Party ), which flanked one of the entrances to the Albert Speer designed Reich Chancellery # Reich Chancellery ( 1938 ) | Reich Chancellery of the Third Reich, encapsulated the National Socialist ideals of the Aryanism | Aryan master race, with Die Partei as the physical embodiment of the spirit of the Nazi Party.

While Speer begins with his childhood, he spends most of the memoirs describing his work in the Nazi hierarchy.

Early on Speer was used mainly as a driver due to his being the only member with a car in the Wannsee area.

By the end of the war, Speer was disillusioned by the war, by the Nazis, and with Hitler himself.

This is followed by an epilogue dealing with the end of the war in Europe and the resulting Nuremberg Trials, in which Speer is sentenced to a two-decade prison sentence for his actions during the war.

Speer described how Joseph Goebbels ' wife, Magda, complained about her husband's infidelity, and how she in turn had had an affair with one of Speer's old friends, Karl Hanke.

Personally meeting with Göring on his estate, Speer wrote how the by-then overweight Luftwaffe marshal spent his days hunting, eating, and quite literally playing with stolen jewels as if they were toys.

Ley's drunkenness and erratic behaviour were less tolerated in wartime, and he was supplanted by Armaments Minister Fritz Todt and his successor Albert Speer as the czar of the German workforce ( the head of the Organisation Todt ( OT )).

Then, after the Minister of Armaments, Fritz Todt, died in a plane crash, Hitler unexpectedly tapped Speer for the position.

The first reason was that many of the practicalities were commanded elsewhere: the Wehrmacht and the SS managed the military and security aspects, Fritz Sauckel as Reich Director of Labour had control over manpower and working areas, Hermann Göring and Albert Speer had total management of economic aspects in the territories and the Reich postal service administered the Eastern territories ' postal services.

Sperrkreis 2 ( Security Zone 2 ) included military barracks and housing for several important Reich Ministers like Albert Speer, Joachim von Ribbentrop and Fritz Todt as well as Hitler's escort battalion, the Führer Begleit Brigade.

In February 1942, following the death of Fritz Todt, Hitler appointed Speer as Minister of Armaments and War Production.

Wolters was tireless in his efforts on behalf of Speer and his family to such an extent that his son, Fritz, later expressed feelings of neglect.

Wolter's son, Fritz, suggested that had Speer mentioned Wolters even once, " it would have made all the difference ", since it would have shown that Speer acknowledged the debt he owed Wolters for his efforts during his incarceration.

Shortly afterwards, on May 7, 1945, General Alfred Jodl signed the German military surrender, and on May 23 Speer was arrested on the orders of U. S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower, together with the rest of the provisional German government led by Admiral Karl Dönitz, Hitler's successor as head of state.

The plan that Speer coordinated as ' Inspector General of Construction ' ( GBI ) for the centre of Berlin was based on Roman, not Greek, planning principles, which might or might not have been influenced by Roman-derived town plans in Fascist Italy.

Guderian's insights are important because of his association with the Panzer forces from a very early period, his high rank and involvement in many of the most important mobile operations of the war, and his eventual rise to Inspector General of Armored Troops, which involved him into regular direct interaction with Hitler and Speer in their high-level decision-making of the conduct of the last year of the war.

Speer had forged a close relationship with Hitler, and in late 1936, Speer informed Wolters that the dictator would soon appoint Speer as Generalbauinspektor ( GBI ) or General Building Inspector for the Reich Capital, and suggested that Wolters resign his post with the railway and come work for him again.

Speer took control of all economic and production matters away from Göring, and Goebbels took the title Reich Plenipotentiary for " Total War " ( Reichsbevollmächtigter für den totalen Kriegseinsatz an der Heimatfront ).

Speer and coworkers, in a similar study of blood group antibodies of whole sera, used a series of gradients for elution from Aj.

Albert Speer notes that though Himmler seemed pedantic and insignificant on the surface, he was a good decision maker, had a talent for selecting highly competent staff, and successfully inserted the SS into every aspect of daily life.

Goebbels hoped in this way to persuade Hitler to give him and his ally Speer control of domestic policy for a program of total commitment to arms production and full labour conscription, including women.

By July 1944, it was in any case too late for Goebbels and Speer ’ s internal coup to make any real difference to the outcome of the war.

Fred A. Speer was the HEAO project manager for MSFC.

However, Hitler decided to seize the opportunity for propaganda and instructed Albert Speer to ensure that the day was spectacular.
