In gratitude Superboy builds Luthor a laboratory, where weeks later he manages to create an artificial life-form, which Luthor loved as if his own child.

Lex later sends Bizarro after the newly arrived " Superboy ", only for the creature to be defeated by Superman.

Several years later, however, he undertook a second run writing the Legion in the mid-1970s, now in their own book, Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The farmtown was unnamed in the story ( as the name " Smallville " appeared for the first time two years later in Superboy ( volume 1 ) # 2 ); the nearest town actually named in the broadcast was the real-life Centerville.

At the age of 14, " Kal Brande ", also known as Superboy, joins Cosmic Boy and Saturn Girl in forming " Superboy's Legion ", later known as the Legion of Super-Heroes.

During his tenure on Superboy he would later also be a producer and writer on the series.

The three villains later return in a " lost season " episode from 1983 titled " Return of the Phantoms " in which they hijack an alien's time-space conveyor and go back in time to Smallville and attack Superboy to prevent him from becoming Superman.

Some 12 years later, totally oblivious to these facts, a scientist in the Earth is demonstrating his newly invented " duplicating ray " to Superboy, and an accident causes the ray to duplicate the teen hero.

Superboy saw the debuts of the first Superbaby story, ( about Clark's adventures as a super-powered toddler ), and of Clark's two closest friends: Lana Lang, who also serves as a romantic interest for Superboy ; and Pete Ross, who later discovers and helps protect Clark's secret identity.

This version of Superboy was later seen again during the events of Zero Hour.

This Superboy was later retconned to have been the Earth-One Superboy.

During a later trip through Hypertime, Kon-El accidentally discovers this Superboy while finding himself in that version's reality.

One year later, Superboy is released from his prison by the newly-formed Sinestro Corps and joins them, becoming one of their heralds and wearing a Sinestro Corps uniform beneath his Anti-Monitor inspired armor.

Krypto was later acquired by the modern Superboy, Kon-El ; however, this version of Krypto was an ordinary Earth dog with no superpowers, and the dog and Kon-El didn't get along.

Some time later, Superman left Krypto in Superboy's care, saying that Smallville's open spaces were a better place for the dog, and that Superboy could use a friend ( as shown in Teen Titans vol.

When confronted by Superboy later on, the imp declares that he had no knowledge of his adventure with Young Justice.

He later had a career as Superboy.

The Metropolis Kid ( who later accepted the name " Superboy ") and The Man of Steel ( whose name became simply " Steel ") went on to become recurring characters in the DC Universe, each eventually getting his own monthly title.

Digger later showed up in Superboy with another Squad.

The line-up reflects the variety of sources on which the show is based: The team includes a version of Superboy, the Dick Grayson incarnation of Robin, the Wally West incarnation of Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Artemis, and a newly created version of Aqualad, later in the fist season they also introduced members Zatanna and Rocket ( comics ).

However, six months later, Superboy Prime resurrects Jason with a reality-altering punch.

The teenage Luthor saves Superboy from a chance encounter with Kryptonite.

* Claire Kent — In the Superboy # 78 story titled " Claire Kent, Alias Super-Sister ", Superboy saves an alien woman named Shar-La from a life-threatening crash.

Using a device the Trapper employed to stave off Earth's destruction, Superboy saves his Earth, but only at the cost of his own life.

With Superboy's aid, Luthor manages to cure Lena, allowing her to walk and think logically again for a brief moment, before he then quickly reverses the process, leaving Lena completely catatonic, and informs Superboy that so long as Superman is alive, he will never reveal how he did it.

Lex even goes so far as to cure Lena's illness, and then immediately undoes the process, leaving her completely catatonic, solely in order to make a mocking point to Superboy and Superman.

Tired of her duties and wanting to enjoy a normal life, Queen Lucy travels to Smallville, where she meets Superboy and soon wins his heart.

Superboy puts on a show with her where he uses his powers to make her seem superhuman ; during this contest, she is called Super-Girl.

She returns to her throne, leaving Superboy to wonder if she ever thinks of him.

After he ridicules her driving, Shar-La turns Superboy into a girl.

The Justice Legion includes secondary members like the Dreamer ( the last precognitive of the dead world Naltor, who has a thoughtscreen in her forehead ), the " Wildflame " ( the comatose remains of the energy being Wildfire, involved in every successive generation of Legionnaires ) and Cris Kend, the Superboy of the 843rd Century — one thousand years in their past — summoned by Brainiac 417 to stop an apocalypse.

Their relationship had a shaky start, not helped by Krypto getting Superboy in trouble with the superheroine Starfire for destroying her alien garden.

While there, Lana Lang threatened to expose his identity ( which was still a secret on Xanthu ) if he did not pretend to be her boyfriend in order to make Superboy jealous.

For example, the Superboy profile relates the post-Crisis origin of the character as a creation of the Time Trapper, and there is no profile for Supergirl, despite her many adventures with the Legion, since by this time she was written out of continuity.

She was rejected because her Green Kryptonite self posed a threat to Superboy and Supergirl.

A still deranged Vicki returns in Superboy and the Ravers # 13 ( September 1997 ) to get her dial back from Hero, but she regains her sanity once she uses the device.

She was mourning the loss of her lover, Superboy, and bitter from the abandonment by Robin and Wonder Woman over the following year.

When the team crash lands and is left stranded on Apokolips after Superboy took control of their shuttle in an attempt to rescue Steel from the Black Racer, tensions explode between Superboy and Robin and those suspicions are brought to light as Superboy, Wonder Girl, Impulse, and Cissie all express concerns regarding trust-although Secret reaffirms her faith in Robin while Empress acknowledges Batman's reasons for developing the strategies, with Lobo dismissing it as impossible for anyone to take him out -, effectively leaving the team divided.

Impulse confesses his fear over his own lack of regard for his own life ; Empress, now left to care for two newborn infants faces the possibility that her career as a super-hero may be over ; Slo-Bo, with his physically inferior body, is slowly beginning to degrade ; Cissie at last establishes peace with her mother ; and Superboy and Wonder Girl finally confess their feelings for one another.

In the Wonder Girl Mini Series, the then living remaining members of Young Justice, consisting of Wonder Girl, Robin, Empress, and Arrowette ( Secret was absent due to her powers being gone and Superboy and Kid Flash had not yet been resurrected ), along with Hercules, teamed up to defeat Granny Goodness and her Female Furies.

Secret first appeared in a one-shot comic, part of the Girlfrenzy fifth week event, by Todd Dezago and Todd Nauck called Young Justice: The Secret, in which Robin, Impulse, and Superboy helped her to escape from the DEO ( Department of Extranormal Operations ) agents who were holding her against her will.
