Active groups sponsored by the organization include the Saddle Club, Orchesis, Golf Club, Tennis Club, and Dolphins.

Abergavenny Tennis Club also play at Pen-y-Pound and plays in the South Wales Doubles League and Aegon Team Tennis.

The club engages the services of a head tennis professional to run a coaching programme for the town and was crowned Tennis Wales ' Club of the Year in 2010.

Cheddar Lawn Tennis Club, was formed in 1924, and play in the North Somerset League and also has social tennis and coaching.

Rock Bridge houses around fifty-five clubs and organizations, including, but not limited to, Intramural Table Tennis League, Chess Club, Global Issues Club, Dumbledore's Army, the Zombie Defense League, Guitar Club, Bible Club, National Honors Society, Student Environmental Coalition, MSU-Muslim Students Union, Future Lawyers of America, Astronomy Club, National Art Honors Society, Weight Lifting Club, and the language Honors Societies.

Tennis was also popular in France, where the French Championships dates to 1891 although until 1925 it was open only to tennis players who were members of French clubs.

Table tennis is governed by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation ( ITTF ), founded in 1926.

After the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, the International Table Tennis Federation instituted several rules changes aimed at making table tennis more viable as a televised spectator sport.

The boys ' tennis team achieved their best finish at the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament in 2008 by winning the team title.

The United States Open Tennis Championships, often referred to as Flushing Meadows, is a hardcourt tennis tournament which is the modern iteration of one of the oldest tennis championships in the world, the U. S. National Championship, which for men's singles was first contested in 1881.

The USTA National Tennis Center was renamed in honor of four-time tournament champion and tennis pioneer Billie Jean King during the 2006 US Open.

In 1936, Robinson won the junior boys singles championship in the annual Pacific Coast Negro Tennis Tournament and earned a place on the Pomona annual baseball tournament all-star team, which included future Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Bob Lemon.

Instead, he became one of the youngest winners of an Association of Tennis Professionals ( ATP ) tournament when, as an almost unknown youngster, he won the 1998 Next Generation Adelaide International, defeating Andre Agassi in the semifinals.

Hewitt pulled out of the Tennis Masters Cup tournament in Shanghai in November 2005 so that he could be with his wife Bec, who was due to give birth.

The Women's Tennis Association can trace its origins back to Houston, Texas with the inaugural Virginia Slims tournament, arranged by Gladys Heldman, and held on 23 September 1970.

Since 1978, the tournament has been played on acrylic hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York City.

The tournament was first held in August 1881 on the grass courts at the Newport Casino, Newport, Rhode Island and in that first year only clubs that were members of the United States National Lawn Tennis Association ( USNLTA ) were permitted to enter.

In 1978 the tournament moved from the West Side Tennis Club, Forest Hills, Queens to the larger USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens, in the process switching the surface from clay, used in the last three years at Forest Hills, to hard courts.

It contains the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the current venue for the U. S. Open tennis tournament ; Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets baseball team ; the New York Hall of Science, the Queens Museum of Art, the Queens Theatre in the Park, the Queens Wildlife Center, and the New York State Pavilion.

After " Flushing meadows " became the ( secondary ) name of the tennis tournament itself, that portion of the park was subsequently named USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

In 1978, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, as it is now called, became the home of the United States Tennis Association, and the US Open tennis tournament is played there annually.

Hunstanton attracts thousands of people, some from long distances away, during the week of the 17 August, for the ITA Hunstanton Lawn Tennis tournament ( the biggest in England after Wimbledon ) inaugurated in 1920.

For 25 years, Mahwah hosted the A & P Tennis Classic, a tune up for the U. S. Open tennis tournament held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Forest Hills, Queens.

Since 2004 Krajicek has been the tournament director of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

In her last tournament before the US Open, Williams won the Pilot Pen Tennis in New Haven, Connecticut, defeating World No. 5 Seles in the semifinals and Davenport in the final.
