The Aluku or Boni is the name of a Maroon ethnic group living mainly on the riverbank in Maripasoula, southwest French Guiana.

There is also a very large Aluku population in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Cayenne, Matoury, and Kourou.

Their Aluku language is a creole of English ( inherited from the former British colonies in today's Suriname from which they came ) and other influences ( including Dutch, African languages, and more recently French ).

It is similar to the languages spoken by the Aluku and Kwinti.

It is similar to the languages spoken by the Aluku and Paramaccan.

It is related to Paramaccan and Aluku.

Before the Aluku, other groups of slaves escaped: the first slaves are those who will compose the Saramaka people, the second group will be the Ndyuka people

The Ndyuka language has three dialects, Ndyuka proper or Okanisi, Aluku, and Paramaccan, which are ethnically distinct.

Together with the other Maroons in Suriname and French Guiana – the Ndyuka ( 55, 000 ), and the Matawai, Paramaka, Aluku, and Kwinti ( who together number some 18, 000 ) – the Saramaka constitute by far the world's largest surviving population of Afro-American Maroons.

Traditionally, Aluku sustained itself, living in gathering, hunting, fishing and nomadic culture far from their homes.

The Saramaka and the Matawai ( in central Suriname ) speak variants of a creole language called Saramaccan, and the Ndyuka, Paramaka, and Aluku, ( in eastern Suriname ), as well as the several hundred Kwinti, speak variants of another creole language, called Ndyuka.

In the late eighteenth centuries, the Aluku occupied the region of today Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Apatou, Grand-Santi, and the largest fraction of the territory still occupied called Fochi-ké ( First Cry ), better known as Aluku and located in the region of Maripasoula, consisting of:
