There are close literary parallels between the Christology of Justin's source and the Apocalypse of Peter.

Among the rejected Lake translation: " not genuine " writings must be reckoned also the Acts of Paul, and the so-called Shepherd, and the Apocalypse of Peter, and in addition to these the extant epistle of Barnabas, and the so-called Teachings of the Apostles ; and besides, as I said, the Apocalypse of John, if it seem proper, which some, as I said, reject, but which others class with the accepted books.

Post-Exilic Hebrew books of prophecy such as the Book of Daniel and Book of Ezekiel are given new interpretations in this Christian tradition, while apocalyptic forecasts appear in the Judeo-Christian Sibylline Oracles and in the whole field of apocalyptic literature, which includes the Book of Revelation ascribed to John, the apocryphal Apocalypse of Peter, and the Second Book Of Esdras.

Later on Clement quotes a similar doctrine, which derives from the same background, and which he attributes explicitly to the Apocalypse of Peter: ' Divine providence extends not only to those who are in the flesh, Peter, for example, says in his Apocalypse, " Aborted infants are entrusted to a guardian angel, so that having obtained a share in the gnosis they may arrive at a better destiny "' ( XLVIII, 1 ).

:" Let there be placed among the spurious works the Acts of Paul, the so-called Shepherd and the Apocalypse of Peter, and besides these the Epistle of Barnabas, and what are called the Teachings of the Apostles, and also the Apocalypse of John, if this be thought proper ; for as I wrote before, some reject it, and others place it in the canon.

In addition to receiving the Apocalypse of John into the church canon, the author remarks that the Apocalypse of Peter is a book which " some of us will not allow to be read in church.

" However, it is not certain whether this refers to the Greek Apocalypse of Peter or the quite different Coptic Apocalypse of Peter, the latter of which, unlike the former, was Gnostic.

The Apocalypse of Peter ( or Revelation of Peter ) is an early Christian text of the 2nd century and an example of apocalyptic literature with Hellenistic overtones.

Alan of Lille was not the author of a Memoriale rerum difficilium, published under his name, nor of Moralium dogma philosophorum, nor of the satirical Apocalypse of Golias once attributed to him ; and it is exceedingly doubtful whether the Dicta Alani de lapide philosophico really issued from his pen.

A number of Roman Catholic writers connect this verse with the Woman of the Apocalypse in, which immediately follows, and argue that the Blessed Virgin Mary is the " Ark of the New Covenant.

His famous series of sixteen great designs for the Apocalypse is dated 1498, as is his engraving of St. Michael Fighting the Dragon.

Abaddon is given particularly important roles in two sources, a homily entitled The Enthronment of Abbaton by Timothy of Alexandria, and the Apocalypse of Bartholomew.

Another example is Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now Redux, which, like the original film, polarized the audience, with some fans considering the original version to be the definitive cut.

There is also another work, thought to be influenced by this one, known as the Greek Apocalypse of Ezra.
