Fortran V was a programming language distributed by Control Data Corporation in 1968 for the CDC 6600 series.

In 1978, around the same time Roy Trubshaw wrote MUD, Alan E. Klietz wrote a game called Milieu using Multi-Pascal on a CDC Cyber 6600 series mainframe which was operated by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium.

The CDC 6600 designed by Seymour Cray in 1964 used a load / store architecture with only two addressing modes ( register + register, and register + immediate constant ) and 74 opcodes, with the basic clock cycle / instruction issue rate being 10 times faster than the memory access time.
