He might have been hoping, to all appearances, that this relatively sunny symphony, in conjunction with the Choral Fantasy at the end of the program, could amount to something like the Ninth ; ;

Members of this group are expected to be leaders in the Choral program.

The Choral program has been rebuilt over the years.

The Choral program at Bexley High School has been extremely successful for the past decade.

As in the Ninth Symphony, the vocal forces sing a theme first played instrumentally, and this theme is highly reminiscent of the corresponding theme in the Ninth Symphony ( for a detailed comparison, see Choral Fantasy ).

Going further back, an earlier version of the Choral Fantasy theme is found in the song " Gegenliebe " (" Returned Love "), for piano and high voice, which dates from before 1795.

Choral music at these events brings children and non-professional singers to participate in a public arena, giving an emotional bonding that is unrelated to the aesthetic qualities of the music.

Tours is home to François Rabelais University, the site of one of the most important choral competitions, called Florilège Vocal de Tours International Choir Competition, and is a member city of the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing.

In addition, several times a year on selected Sundays at 5: 15pm, the St. James's Recital Series features performances by local musicians, pianists in particular ; recitals follow the 4pm Choral Evensong in St. James Chapel and are free and open to the public.

A former Precentor of the college, Ralph Allwood set up and organised Eton Choral Courses, which run at the school every summer.

The choirs win awards year after year at Region Invitations, Contest, State Choral Performance Assessment, and the Lonoke and even Arkansas State Fair.

Edward Higginbottom, Organist and Tutor in Music at New College, has been made Oxford University ’ s first Choral Professor.

He had become Chorus Master of the nationalistic Hlahol Choral Society soon after his return from Sweden, and as his fluency in the Czech language developed he composed patriotic choruses for the Society ; The Three Riders and The Renegade were performed at concerts in early 1863.

Through Francesca Allinson he met the Marxist composer Alan Bush, who was the conductor of the London Labour Choral Union. Tippett conducted the orchestra at the Pageant of Labour at the Crystal Palace on 15 – 20 October 1934.

Romsey Abbey maintains a traditional choir of boys and men, who normally sing two services each week during term time, including a full Choral Evensong at least once a month.

Typical examples are choruses conducted by Sir Henry Wood, recorded in 1926 for Columbia with the 3, 500-strong choir and orchestra of the Crystal Palace Handel Festival, and a contemporary rival disc from HMV featuring the Royal Choral Society under Malcolm Sargent, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall.
