Graduate students are bound by the Honor Code, as are the undergraduates, and the Graduate Review Board oversees any violations of the code.

Life in the Caltech community is governed by the Honor Code, which simply states: " No member of the Caltech community shall take unfair advantage of any other member of the Caltech community.

The Honor Code aims at promoting an atmosphere of respect and trust that allows Caltech students to enjoy privileges that make for a more relaxed atmosphere.

For example, the Honor Code allows professors to make the majority of exams as take-home, allowing students to take them on their own schedule and in their preferred environment.

Through the late 1990s, the only exception to the Honor Code, implemented earlier in the decade in response to changes in federal regulations, concerned the sexual harassment policy.

Today, there are myriad exceptions to the Honor Code in the form of new institute policies such as the Fire Policy, and Alcohol Policy.

Though both policies are presented in the Honor Code Handbook given to new members of the Caltech Community, some undergraduates regard them as a slight against the Honor Code and the implicit trust and respect it represents within the community.

HMC students developed, live by and enforce an Honor Code themselves.

Rice students are bound by the strict Honor Code, which is enforced by a uniquely student-run Honor Council.

The first class adopted the Cadet Honor Code, and chose the falcon as the Academy's mascot.

The ‘‘ Honor Wall ,’‘ overlooking the Terrazzo, is inscribed with the Cadet Honor Code: " We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does.

The Cadet Honor Code is the cornerstone of a cadet's professional training and development – the minimum standard of ethical conduct that cadets expect of themselves and their fellow cadets.

The Honor Code was developed and adopted by the Class of 1959, the first class to graduate from the Academy and has been handed down to every subsequent class.

The Center's programs, when coupled with the Honor Code and Honor System, establish a foundation for the " leaders of character " that the Academy aspires to produce.

The Judicial Reform Committee created the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance, which outlined the current Honor Code and its means for enforcement in 1974.

In 1838 former governor of South Carolina John Lyde Wilson published The Code of Honor ; or Rules for the Government of Principals and Seconds in Dueling.

Examples from the nineteenth century are the transposition of " Horatio Nelson " into " Honor est a Nilo " ( Latin = Honor is from the Nile ); and of " Florence Nightingale " into " Flit on, cheering angel ".

There is little competition ; collaboration on homework is encouraged and the Honor System encourages take-home tests and flexible homework schedules.

Instead, the team has a " Ring of Honor ", which is on permanent display encircling the field.

Although the team does not officially retire jersey numbers, some are kept " unofficially inactive ", so it is uncommon to find any current players wearing the number of one of the " Ring of Honor " inductees.

* 1964 – Vietnam War: For his heroism in battle earlier in the year, Captain Roger Donlon is awarded the first Medal of Honor of the war.

* 1861 – Medal of Honor: Public Resolution 82, containing a provision for a Navy Medal of Valor, is signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln.

The Ellis Island Medal of Honor is awarded annually at ceremonies on the island.

* 1862 – The Medal of Honor is authorized by the United States Congress.

In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode " A Matter of Honor ", several members of a Klingon ship's crew speak a language that is not translated for the benefit of the viewer ( even Commander Riker, enjoying the benefits of a universal translator, is unable to understand ) until one Klingon orders the others to " speak their ' humans ' language ".

The first documented case is that of Marie-Angélique Duchemin ( 1772 – 1859 ), who fought in the Revolutionary Wars, received a military disability pension in 1798, the rank of 2nd lieutenant in 1822, and the Legion of Honor in 1852.

* 1928 – Charles Lindbergh is presented with the Medal of Honor for the first solo trans-Atlantic flight.

The point of view characters include women ( Cordelia in Shards of Honor, Barrayar ; Ekaterin in Komarr and A Civil Campaign ), a gay man ( Ethan of Athos ), and a pair of brothers, one of whom is disabled and the other a clone ( Miles and Mark Vorkosigan ).

In Falling Free and Shards of Honor there is mention of a light pen, a 1980s input device.

Barrayar is a planet colonized by humans some four hundred years prior to Shards of Honor, the first Vorkosigan novel.

* 1968 – Vietnam War: United States Air Force helicopter pilot James P. Fleming rescues an Army Special Forces unit pinned down by Viet Cong fire and is later awarded the Medal of Honor.

Said series script writer Dennis Spooner " there's the famous story of how Honor Blackman played Ian Hendry's part, which is why they stuck her in leather and such — it was so much cheaper than changing the lines!

Regulations specify that recipients of the Medal of Honor are allowed to wear the uniform " at their pleasure " with standard restrictions on political, commercial, or extremist purposes ( other former members of the armed forces may do so only at certain ceremonial occasions ).

The purpose of the Kellogg Honor Code is to promote these qualities so that each student can fully develop his or her individual potential.

Her link to Nimitz had initially grown over thirty some T-years to become so deep as to allow her to " taste " the emotions of other humans around her through Nimitz in the earlier works of the series — for example when she foiled the attempt to assassinate the Protector of Grayson in the second novel, The Honor of the Queen.
