Ludlow was formerly the site of the regionally significant Ludlow Lagoon Amusement Park.

When the streetcar lines were laid through Ludlow, they were extended to the Lagoon entrance.

In 1967, the Ludlow Realty Company sold the remaining Lagoon property to Ludlow Development Enterprises Inc. ( Carlisle Construction, King Wrecking Co., et al .).

The new Ludlow Eco-Park situated on the outskirts of the town, along the A49, includes a new Park & Ride facility, with a frequent bus service to and from the town centre.

In 1875, Colonel William Ludlow, who had been part of Custer's gold exploration effort, invited Grinnell to serve as naturalist and mineralogist on an expedition to Montana and the newly established Yellowstone Park.

William Ludlow ( November 27, 1843 – August 30, 1901 ) was an officer in the Corps of Engineers and a major general in the United States Army who served in the Civil War, Plains Indian Wars, the Spanish-American War, and led a scientific expedition examining the natural wonders of Yellowstone National Park.

Handyman Hall was filmed at Stanage Park, near Heartsease, Powys, a few miles west of Ludlow.

Butterworth's death on the Somme in 1916 was considered a great loss to English music ; Ivor Gurney, another most important setter of Housman ( Ludlow and Teme, a work for voice and string quartet, and a song-cycle on Housman works, both of which won the Carnegie Award ) experienced emotional breakdowns which were popularly ( but wrongly ) believed to have originated from shell-shock.

Edward was created Prince of Wales in June 1471, following Edward IV's restoration to the throne, and in 1473 was established at Ludlow Castle on the Welsh Marches as nominal president of a newly-created Council of Wales and the Marches.

It was at Ludlow that the 12-year-old prince received news of his father's sudden death on 9 April 1483.

And that the inhumanity of these men may the better appear, I ( Edmond Ludlow ) must not omit, that the executioner in an ugly dress, with a halter in his hand, was placed near the Major-General, and continued there during the whole time of his trial, which action I doubt whether it was ever equaled by the most barbarous nations.

Edmond Ludlow also provided an account of the execution at Charing Cross, " the sentence which had been pronounced in consequence of the verdict was executed upon Major-General Harrison at the place where Charing Cross formerly stood, that the King might have the pleasure of the spectacle, and inure himself to blood.

Edmund Ludlow ( c. 1617 – 1692 ) was an English parliamentarian, best known for his involvement in the execution of Charles I, and for his Memoirs, which were published posthumously in a rewritten form and which have become a major source for historians of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.

Ludlow said, " The entire truth of Nature cannot be copied ," so " the artist must select between the major and minor facts of the outer world ; that, before he executes, he must pronounce whether he will embody the essential effect, that which steals on the soul and possesses it without painful analysis, or the separate details which belong to the geometrician and destroy the effect.

It was affected by major boundary changes which took effect at the 1997 general election, which created a new constituency containing and named after the town of Telford ; prior to this point, Telford had been one of the largest elements of The Wrekin and the new Telford constituency took 62. 9 % of the electorate of The Wrekin leaving the remaining 37. 1 % to constitute a revised constituency of The Wrekin that incorporated areas previously within Shropshire North and Ludlow constituencies.

After the major flood of 1933, Ludlow was abandoned and operations ran north from Crucero, a Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad railhead.
