* April 28-Further British train operating companies begin operation of their passenger service franchises as part of the privatisation of British Rail: Gatwick Express and Midland Mainline ( both National Express Group ) and Great North Eastern Railway ( Sea Containers Ltd ).

The main stakeholders at the time were Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Central Trains, Midland Mainline, Nottingham Development Enterprise, Nottingham Regeneration Limited and the EMDA which together acted as the Nottingham Railway Station Steering Group.

This referred to the trans-Siberian railway project called the Baikal-Amur Mainline, which was under construction at the time.

Mainline Airways LLC was tour operator in operation from 2002 to 2003 by an American college student, whom Massachusetts state authorities said didn't hold itself out to the public as a tour operator, instead pretending to be an airline offering cut-rate tickets between Honolulu and Los Angeles without the ability to actually provide the flights due to lack of an aircraft operating certificate (" AOC ").

The fact that the company was chartering the aircraft and not operating the flights themselves was hidden deep into the contract terms on the company's website, leading to rumors of illegitimacy that attracted the attention of the state attorney's office, who quickly filed suit against Mainline ex parte.

Mainline Airways was incorporated as Mainline Airways LLC in Pennsylvania on December 12, 2002.

However, in June 2003 Massachusetts Attorney General Thomas Reilly filed the well-publicized state lawsuit against Mainline and Luke Thompson alleging that the company would not perform the travel services paid for by customers that were to be executed beginning only 3 weeks after the suit was filed, and Reilly expressed a general concern that the company was nothing more than a fraud and Thompson was laundering large amounts of cash from the company.

Reilly's lawsuit had sought to shut down the company, obtain refunds for all customers, and $ 605, 000 in punitive damages from both Mainline and Thompson, but it was partially withdrawn in September 2004 and Thompson was not forced to pay a fine or damages.

Over a year after the suit and Mainline discontinued operations, on September 2, 2004, a settlement was reached and approved between Luke Thompson and the state, providing that no party admitted wrongdoing or liability, and for no fines or other penalties would be paid Thompson or Mainline ; the state had originally sought $ 605, 000 in fines.

The settlement formally ordered Mainline to refund all customers, but refunds had actually been provided in June 2003, only the company was not under court order to issue refunds until their settlement was approved ( just over a year later ).

Mainline service was downgraded to Continental Express service in the late 1980s.

Kader formed Bachmann Industries Europe in 1989 with their main UK headquarters in Moat Way, Barwell, and the following year launched the Bachmann Branchline range for the British market with the moulds that had previously been used for Mainline and Replica.

Neasden is one of the few stations on the southern section of the former Metropolitan Mainline to still have its original platform buildings intact and its architecture is typical for a station serving a medium sized village.

Electric Multiple Units ( EMUs ) ply between Churchgate and Virar ( 64 km ) and is projected to extend the service till Dahanu Road, while Mainline Electrical Multiple Units ( MEMUs ) service the section beyond Virar till Dahanu Road ( 60 km ).

This section of railway was the first section to be completed of what would later became the Baikal-Amur Mainline.

Sovetskaya Gavan is connected by rail to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the section of line being the most easterly section of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.

Construction of the first section of the Baikal-Amur Mainline started in 1937 and was managed from here.

The Amur Yakutsk Mainline ( AYaM ) also began construction from Tynda, with the section to Neryungri completed in 1977.

Bratsk is served by the Baikal-Amur Mainline railway and Bratsk Airport.

The territory is accessed by two railroads, the Trans-Siberian railway and the Baikal Amur Mainline.

She broke her knee while on the Baikal Amur Mainline railway, then tore a calf while recuperating at Lake Baikal and her plans changed to a journey around Siberia by train, boat and bus, documented in Through Siberia by Accident.

However, there are proposals by The Association of Train Operating Companies to build a new railway station on the Midland Mainline ( to the West of Rushden ) to be known as Rushden Parkway.

Tyseley railway station was a predominant junction for the ex-GWR Mainline between Birmingham and London, with the Shakespeare line ( for Stratford-Upon-Avon ) diverging here ( via Shirley ).

Upon the privatisation of British Rail, the station became owned by Railtrack and later Network Rail, though, in common with most British railway stations, the day-to-day operation was contracted out to the largest user of the station, in this case Midland Mainline ( East Midlands Trains ' predecessor ).

Today it is the point where the Baikal-Amur Mainline railway crosses the Lena on a bridge and it handles 80 % of cargo in the Sakha Republic region.

In 1989 a European division was set up initially reusing the molds previously used for the Palitoy Mainline model railway products to create the Bachmann Branchline models.

The ' Old Village ' and ' New Village ' are separated by the East Coast Mainline ; there are only two crossing points over the railway between the old and new villages.

By 1937 Frenkel was head of BAMlag, the Baikal Amur Mainline railway camp, one of the most chaotic and lethal camps in the Far East, yet when 48 Trotskyites were arrested in BAMlag in 1938 he was not among them, although the camp newspaper openly accused him of sabotage.
