Beyond the Comandos, the Portuguese Armed and Security Forces used several other commando type forces in the Colonial War in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea, like the Caçadores Especiais ( Special Hunters ) of the Portuguese Army, the Caçadores Paraquedistas ( Parachute Hunters ) of the Portuguese Air Force, the Fuzileiros Especiais ( Special Marines ) of the Portuguese Navy, the Flechas ( Arrows ) of the International and State Defense Police and the Grupos Especiais ( Special Groups ) of the Government of Mozambique.

The base gained international media attention in 2000, when it hosted the United States Air Force's rescue contingent as part of Operation Atlas Response, the mission to provide rescue and humanitarian support to areas of Mozambique devastated by the severe flooding caused by Cyclone Eline.

He was a member of International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO ) teams, which investigated the Mozambican Tupolev Tu-134 air disaster in South Africa in which the President of Mozambique lost his life, and the shooting down of three civil aircraft: Korean Air Lines Flight 007 over Russia and two United Nations ( UN ) L-130 aircraft in Angola.

Air Corridor was an airline based in Nampula, Mozambique.

Although this is primarily a civilian honour, there have been a few military awards, including a collective award to the South African Air Force and South African Navy units which rescued the passengers from a sinking ocean liner in 1991, and a collective award to SAAF units which carried out flood relief operations in Mozambique in 2001.

Mozambique was now a multiparty state, with periodic elections, and guaranteed democratic rights.

The protocol for granting aid to the Armed Forces for the Defence of Mozambique ( FADM ) was signed by Defense Minister of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, and the charge d ' affaires of the Chinese embassy in Maputo, Lee Tongli.

Thus, the Beqaa Valley is part of the Great Rift system, which stretches from southern Turkey to Mozambique in Africa.

Inhambane is a province of Mozambique located on the coast in the southern part of the country.

It is now part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique.

The sources of the Agulhas Current are the East Madagascar Current ( 25 Sverdrups ), the Mozambique Current ( 5 Sverdrups ) and a reticulated part of the Agulhas Current itself ( 35 Sverdrups ).

The British government under Margaret Thatcher did not view the civil war in Mozambique as a part of the Cold War in the extent that could have been thought and when FRELIMO closed the border to Rhodesia it was in fit well with British interests against the rebel colony while the Rhodesian government supported RENAMO.
