* On 30 May 1972, 28 passengers were gunned down at Ben Gurion International Airport by members of the Japanese Red Army in collaboration with the PFLP in what became known as the Lod Airport massacre.

The Japanese Red Army, Nihon Sekigun from 1971 had very close ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ).

* January 1974: Laju incident: Red Army attacked a Shell facility in Singapore and took five hostages ; simultaneously, the PFLP seized the Japanese embassy in Kuwait.

The Lod Airport massacre was a terrorist attack that occurred on May 30, 1972, in which three members of the Japanese Red Army having been recruited by the Palestinian group called the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) killed 26 people and injured 80 others at Tel Aviv's Lod airport ( now Ben Gurion International Airport ).

The attack was a joint operation of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ), and the Japanese Red Army.

By 1972 the United Red Army in Japan was finished and the Shigenobu group dependent on the PFLP for financing, training and weaponry.

The German Autumn () was a set of events in late 1977, associated with the kidnapping and murder of industrialist Hanns-Martin Schleyer, President of the Confederation of German Employers ' Associations ( BDA ) and the Federation of German Industries ( BDI ), by the Red Army Faction ( RAF ), and the hijacking of the Lufthansa airplane " Landshut " by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ).

In 1978, Egyptian Army Special Forces were dispatched to Cyprus in response to the hijacking of a Cyprus Air passenger aircraft by operatives of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ).

In December 2008, an Israeli military court sentenced Ahmad Sa ' adat, leader of the Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ), to 30 years in prison for heading an " illegal terrorist organization " and for his responsibility for all actions carried out by his organization.

He was one of the GSG 9 commandos who carried out Operation Feuerzauber ( Fire Magic ), the famous rescue mission in Mogadishu, Somalia, against the PFLP terrorist team holding 86 hostages aboard Lufthansa Flight 181, hijacked on October 13, 1977.

* Patrick Arguello ( 1943 – 1970 ), US-Nicaraguan national killed in the attempted hijack of an El Al flight, as carried out by the PFLP.

The PFLP grew out of the Harakat al-Qawmiyyin al-Arab, or Arab Nationalist Movement ( ANM ), founded in 1953 by Dr. George Habash, a Palestinian Christian, from Lydda.

When it was formed in the late 1960s the PFLP supported the established line of most Palestinian guerrilla fronts and ruled out any negotiated settlement with Israel that would result in two states between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

Teams of PFLP gunmen on the building's upper floors repeatedly attempted to take the elevator to the ground floor and join the battle, but each team was wiped out by commandos waiting near the doors.

In 1999, at a meeting in Cairo, the DFLP and the PFLP agreed to cooperate with the PLO leadership in final status negotiations with Israel.

One of the first instances when it was used by militants was on 13 January 1975 at the Orly airport in France, when Carlos the Jackal, together with another member from the PFLP, used two Soviet RPG-7 grenades to attack an Israeli El Al airliner.

On 15 September 1970, the PFLP hijacked five planes and landed three of them at Dawson's Field, located east of Amman.

Following the death of Yasser Arafat in November 2004, the PFLP entered discussions with the DFLP and the Palestinian People's Party aimed at nominating a joint left-wing candidate for the presidential elections.

Wegener was the GSG 9 commander at the liberation of the hostages of the PFLP on the Boeing 737 Landshut, operated by Lufthansa as flight 181, in Mogadishu, Somalia, in the night from the 17th to the 18th October 1977.

Meanwhile, a small group of PFLP terrorists, enraged at the looming failure of their campaign to erase Israel's existence, come across the lost Israeli bomb and use it to construct their own weapon, using the bomb's plutonium as fissile material.

* September 9 – To pressure British authorities into releasing Leila Khaled, a PFLP sympathizer hijacks BOAC Flight 775, a Vickers VC10 flying from Bahrain to Beirut with 114 people on board, and forces it to land at Dawsons Field in Jordan.

* September 12 – After removing all hostages from them, PFLP members use explosives to destroy the four empty airliners at Dawson's Creek and Cairo hijacked on September 6 and 9.

By early 1970, at least seven Palestinian guerrilla organizations were active in Jordan, one of the most important being the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) led by George Habash.

( He had taken the same action after the PFLP attacked Athens Airport.

Instead, George Habash in particular, and various other leaders in general advocated one state with an Arab identity in which Jews were entitled to live with the same rights as any minority. The PFLP declared that its goal was to ‘’ create a people ’ s democratic Palestine, where Arabs and Jews would live without discrimination, a state without classes and national oppression, a state which allows Arabs and Jews to develop their national culture .’’

Entebbe is the location of Entebbe International Airport, Uganda's largest commercial and military airport, best known for the dramatic rescue of 100 hostages kidnapped by the resistance group of the PFLP and Revolutionary Cells ( RZ ) organizations.

PFLP claimed that this was a retaliation for the killing of Abu Ali Mustafa.

Israeli tourist minister Rehavam Ze ' evi was allegedly assassinated by the PFLP in revenge for his killing.

" Cuba has also lent support to the prominent Palestine Liberation Organization ( PLO ) and the lesser-known Marxist-Leninist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) both received training from Cuba's General Intelligence Directorate, as well as financial and diplomatic support from the Cuban government.

He believed that the PFLP had become, under the guidance of George Habash, too focused on military matters, and wanted to make the PDFLP a more grassroots and more ideologically focused organization.

The DFLP condemned attacks outside Israel ( such as the aircraft hijackings for which the Habash PFLP gained notoriety ) and was essential in making the binational state the goal of the PLO in the 1970s, insisting on the need for cooperation between Arabs and Jews.

This document, which was accepted by the Palestinian National Council ( PNC ) after lobbying by Fatah and DFLP, cautiously introduced the concept of a two-state solution in the PLO, and caused a split in the organization leading to the formation of the Rejectionist Front, where radical organizations such as the PFLP, PFLP-GC, Palestine Liberation Front and others gathered with the backing of Syria, Libya and Iraq to oppose Arafat and the mainstream PLO stance.

Along with the PFLP, it then broke from the APF over ideological differences, and has made limited moves toward merging with the PFLP since the mid-1990s.

These included strikes against leading Jordanian politicians, as a means of exacting vengeance and raising the price for attacking the Palestinian movement ; and also, most controversially, for " international operations " ( e. g. the Munich Olympics attack ), intended both to put pressure on the US, European countries and Israel, and to raise the visibility of the Palestinian cause, and to upstage radical rivals such as the PFLP.

On 14 March 2006, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Bringing Home the Goods, raiding a Jericho prison to capture PFLP general secretary, Ahmad Sa ' adat and five other prisoners charged with assassinating Israeli tourist minister Rehavam Zeevi who were about to be released.

In July 1968, a faction of George Habash's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) hijacked an Israeli El Al civilian plane en route to Algiers ; in December, Habash himself oversaw an attack on an El Al plane in Athens, resulting in two deaths.

Israel defended its actions by informing the Lebanese government that it was responsible for encouraging the PFLP.

Baader, Ensslin, Mahler, and Meinhof then went to Jordan, where they trained in the West Bank and Gaza with Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) and Palestine Liberation Organization ( PLO ) guerrillas and looked to the Palestinian cause for inspiration and guidance.

The four killers were arrested together with the head of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ), Ahmad Sa ' adat.

In December 2007, Hamdi Quran confessed in an Israeli court to assassinating Ze ' evi together with Basel al-Asmar after being instructed by PFLP member Majdi Rahima Rimawi.

* 1970 – Jordan makes a deal with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) for the release of the remaining hostages from the Dawson's Field hijackings.

* 1970 – Two passenger jets bound from Europe to New York are simultaneously hijacked by Palestinian terrorist members of PFLP and taken to Dawson's Field in Jordan.

According to Said Aburish, the government of Jordan and a number of Fatah commandos informed Arafat that large-scale Israeli military preparations for an attack on the town were underway, prompting fedayeen groups, such as George Habash's newly formed group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP ) and Nayef Hawatmeh's breakaway organization the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( DFLP ), to withdraw their forces from the town.

Arafat, bowing to pressure from Arab governments, publicly condemned the hijackings and suspended the PFLP from any guerrilla actions for a few weeks.
