Prominent left communist groups existing today include the International Communist Current and the International Bureau for the Revolutionary Party.

In post – Revolutionary Russia, Stalinism ( Socialism in one country ) and Trotskyism ( Permanent world revolution ) were the principal philosophies of Communism that claimed legitimate ideological descent from Leninism ' thus, within the Communist Party, each ideological faction denied the political legitimacy of the opposing faction.

In France, the Revolutionary Communist League ( LCR ) candidate in the 2007 presidential election, Olivier Besancenot, received 1, 498, 581 votes, 4. 08 %, double that of the Communist candidate.

The Shining Path's ideology and tactics have been influential on other Maoist insurgent groups, notably the Communist Party of Nepal ( Maoist ) and other Revolutionary Internationalist Movement-affiliated organizations.

For example, in the United States the New Communist Movement led to a plethora of formations, among them the Progressive Labour Party, the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and the October League, amongst others.

Often they took names such as Communist Party ( Marxist-Leninist ) or Revolutionary Communist Party to distinguish themselves from the traditional pro-Soviet communist parties.

In the USA the Kasama Project ( KP ), was initiated by former Revolutionary Communist Party, USA members critical of what they viewed as the dogmatism and cult of personality of RCP USA.

RIM was founded in 1984 and included such notable organizations as the Communist Party of Peru ( PCP ), also known as " Sendero Luminoso " or " Shining Path ," the then Communist Party of Nepal ( Maoist ), now known as the Unified Communist Party of Nepal ( Maoist ) UCPN ( M ), and the Revolutionary Communist Party USA ( RCP ( USA )).

The three armies would maintain their historical designation as the First, Second and Fourth Red Armies until Communist military forces were nominally integrated into the National Revolutionary Army, forming the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army, during the Second Sino-Japanese War from 1937 to 1945.

The only legal political party is the Lao People's Revolutionary Party ( LPRP ).

Government policies are determined by the party through the all-powerful nine-member Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the 49-member Central Committee.

Current labour law reflects the historic interrelation between the state and the Confederation of Mexican Workers, the labour confederation officially aligned with the Institutional Revolutionary Party ( the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI ), which ruled Mexico under various names for more than seventy years.

Generally, however, despite the two exceptions being the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 which involved conflicts between the U. S. and Great Britain, relations between the U. S. and Canada have been remarkably friendly with an " unfortified boundary " and an agreement " that has kept all fleets of war off the Great Lakes.
