* January 5 – Gilbert & Sullivan's Princess Ida has its première at the Savoy Theatre, London.

The House of Savoy has held two dynastic orders since 1434, which were brought into the Kingdom of Italy as national orders.

On the national level, Savoy is represented in the United States House of Representatives as part of Massachusetts's 1st congressional district, and has been represented by John Olver of Amherst since June 1991.

This has been identified with a petition entrusted to Sir Edward Wardour, clerk of the pells, Dr Dukeson, " Dr Fuller ," and four or five others from the city of Westminster and the parishes contiguous to the Savoy.
