The biggest engine available in the Argentine Taunus was an updated version of the lima with an upgraded camshaft, new exhaust headers and a 2 barrel 36 / 36mm Solex carburator.
Those cars are referred to as the Taunus SP 5 and where upgraded with a five-speed manual gearbox ( giving the number to the name ), raised performance and a reworked interior as the most significant changes inside.

The district covers the southern part of the Taunus mountains, with the Main river forming part of the district's border in the south.

Also, the Taunus was available as a coupe, a bodystyle that the Cortina was never made in.
From 1976 Taunus and Cortina models were identical in all but name, ' Taunus ' being the name used in left hand drive ( LHD ) markets, and ' Cortina ' in right hand drive ones, although the Cortina name was used in LHD South Korea and Taiwan.
As from the 1976 model year the Taunus and Cortina were almost identical, apart from regional variations ( in terms of specification changes and trim levels ).
Internally, they were defined by the setting of the driver ´ s place-LHD ( left-hand drive ) cars were badged Taunus while RHD ( right-hand drive ) cars were badged Cortina, disregarding the country of origin.
The Taunus / Cortina was replaced in Europe by the Sierra in late 1982.
By 1976, when the revised Taunus was launched, the Cortina was identical.
In fact, this new TaunusCortina used the doors and some panels from the 1970 Taunus.
Its sister car-the Taunus TC-sold in continental Europe was subtly different in appearance, having different door skins and rear wing pressings that toned down the drooping beltline in order to lose the " coke-bottle " appearance of the Cortina.

The Mk III was also sold in Scandinavia, alongside the Taunus.
By contrast, the estate models combined the Mk IV's bodyshell ( which was initially from the 1970 Ford Taunus ) with Mk V front body pressings.

Generally a rebody of the Mark III, as an integration of Ford's model range, this car was really a rebadged Ford Taunus.
However, although the updated Taunus was introduced to Continental Europe in January 1976, Ford were able to continue selling the Cortina Mark III in undiminished numbers in the UK until they were ready to launch its successor as the Dagenham built Cortina Mark IV, which went on sale on 29 September 1976.
The dashboard was carried over intact from the last of the Mark III Cortinas while the estate used the rear body pressings of the previous 1970 release Taunus.
The first engine was an 841 cc three-cylinder two-stroke engine, but from 1967 onward, it became available with the same four-stroke Ford Taunus V4 engine as used in the Saab 96, the Saab Sonett V4 and Sonett III, and the German Ford Taunus.
