* Brazil during World War I: Brazil entered into World War I in 1917 alongside the Triple Entente.

In May 1916 the governments of the United Kingdom, France and Russia agreed the Sykes – Picot Agreement, which defined their proposed spheres of influence and control in Western Asia should the Triple Entente succeed in defeating the Ottoman Empire during World War I.

Finland's foreign politics before this deal had been varied: independence from Imperial Russia with support of Imperial Germany in 1917 ; participation in the Russian Civil War ( without official declaration of war ) alongside the Triple Entente 1918 – 1920 ; a non-ratified alliance with Poland in 1922 ; association with the neutralist and democratic Scandinavian countries in the 1930s ended by the Winter War ( 1939 ); and finally in 1940, a rapprochement with Nazi Germany, the only power able to protect Finland against the expansionist Soviet Union, leading to the Continuation War in 1941.

France was one of the Triple Entente powers in World War I, fighting alongside the United Kingdom, Russia, and their allies against the Central Powers.

In an effort to isolate Germany, France went to great pains to woo Russia and the United Kingdom to its side, first by means of the Franco-Russian Alliance of 1894, then the 1904 Entente Cordiale with the U. K, and finally the Anglo-Russian Entente in 1907 which became the Triple Entente and eventually led Russia and the UK to enter World War I as Allies.

The Brazilian victory was crucial for the later success of the Triple Alliance ( Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina ) in the Paraguayan War.

* 1667 – The French Royal Army crosses the border into the Spanish Netherlands, starting the War of Devolution opposing France to the Spanish Empire and the Triple Alliance.

The War of the Triple Alliance ( 1865 – 70 ) fundamentally changed the Paraguayan economy.

The country was slowly being repopulated by former Brazilian soldiers who had fought in the War of the Triple Alliance, and Paraguay's government encouraged European immigration.

In 1914 Russia entered World War I in response to Austria-Hungary's declaration of war on Russia's ally Serbia, and fought across multiple fronts while isolated from its Triple Entente allies.

* Paraguayan War, also known as the War of the Triple Alliance ( 1864 – 1870 ), a major war in South America

The Triple Alliance declared war on Paraguayan leader Francisco Solano López and the resulting War of the Triple Alliance ended with the invasion of Paraguay and its defeat by the armies of the three countries.

* May 24 – Battle of Tuyutí: 32, 000 soldiers of the Triple Alliance defeat 24, 000 Paraguayan soldiers few miles north of the Paraná, Argentina in the Paraguayan War, with 16, 000 casualties.

* September 22 – Paraguay successfully defends Curupaity against the Triple Alliance in the Paraguayan War, killing more than 5, 000 with just about 50 casualties.

* December 31 – Triple Alliance forces take Asunción in the Paraguayan War.

In the Atlantic side, Paraguay attempted to gain a more dominant status in the region, but an alliance of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay ( in the resulting War of the Triple Alliance, 1864-1870 ) ended Paraguayan ambitions.

Triple based propellants were used in post war ammunition designs and remain in production for UK weapons ; most double based propellants left service as World War II stocks were expended after the war.

* In Brazil, during the Triple Alliance War against Paraguay, a company of black volunteers called the " zouavos baianos " was organised in Bahia Province.

Following Japan's victory in the First Sino-Japanese War of 1895, the Triple Intervention of Russia and France forced Japan to return the territory won in Liaodong, leading to a de facto Sino-Russian alliance.

Following William and Mary's accession to the throne, England involved itself in the War of the Grand Alliance primarily to prevent a French invasion restoring Mary's father, James II.

During the War of the Grand Alliance, on orders from the province of New York, Massachusetts, Kidd captured an enemy privateer, which duty he was commissioned to perform off of the New England coast.

With the end of the Cold War, however, Denmark has been supportive of U. S. policy objectives in the Alliance.

* 1778 – American Revolutionary War: In Paris the Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity and Commerce are signed by the United States and France signaling official recognition of the new republic.

After the abdication of Napoleon following the War of the Sixth Coalition, Austria participated as a leading member of the Holy Alliance at the Congress of Vienna, which was largely dominated by Francis's chancellor Klemens Wenzel, Prince von Metternich culminating in a new European map and the restoration of Francis ' ancient dominions ( except the Holy Roman Empire which was dissolved ).

* 1704 1 August ( NS ): ( 21 July ( OS )) – During the War of the Spanish Succession, and when returning from a failed expedition to Barcelona, an Anglo-Dutch fleet, under the command of Sir George Rooke, chief commander of the Alliance Navy, began a new siege ( the eleventh siege of the town ).

Internationally, the Revolution was related to the War of the Grand Alliance on mainland Europe.

William was also stadtholder of the main provinces of the Dutch Republic, then in the preliminary stages of joining the War of the Grand Alliance against France, in a context of international tensions caused by the revocation by Louis XIV of the Edict of Nantes and the disputed succession of Cologne and the Electorate of the Palatinate.

But the English government opposed the idea: involved in the War of the Grand Alliance from 1689 to 1697 against France, it did not want to offend Spain, which claimed the territory as part of New Granada.

France would soon be involved in another war, the War of the Grand Alliance.

In 1718, France was once again at war, as Philip II of Orléans's regency joined the War of the Quadruple Alliance against Spain.

However, over the years since the Patriotic War of 1812 against Napoleon, Russia had been forced into involvement in the affairs of Europe, as part of the " Holy Alliance.

Born in the western Afghan city of Herat, he rose to become a powerful rebel commander during in the Soviet War in Afghanistan, and then a key member of the Northern Alliance until finally becoming the Governor of Herat Province.

* 1913 – The Greek-Serbian Treaty of Alliance is signed, paving the way for the Second Balkan War.

* 1693 – War of the Grand Alliance: Battle of Landen – France wins a Pyrrhic victory over Allied forces in the Netherlands.

In the ensuing War of the Grand Alliance, France was forced to give up the duchy, which was returned to the Habsburgs by the Treaty of Ryswick in 1697.

* 2001 – War in Afghanistan: Afghan Northern Alliance fighters take over the capital Kabul.

The Kingdom of France had been a critical ally of the United States in the American Revolutionary War from the spring of 1776, and had signed in 1778 a Treaty of Alliance with the United States.
