At one time, Wellfleet Harbor included an island known as Billingsgate Island, which sat at the harbor's mouth, to the south of the point.

He died of a heart attack in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, on October 4, 1968.

Wellfleet is famous for its eponymous oysters, which are celebrated in the annual October Wellfleet OysterFest.

Wellfleet was encountered by Europeans as early as 1606, when the French explorer Samuel de Champlain explored and named it " Port Aux Huitres " ( Oyster Port ) for the bountiful oyster population resident to the area.

The South Wellfleet station's first call sign was " CC ", for Cape Cod.

The CCNS includes nearly of seashore along the Atlantic-facing eastern edge of Cape Cod, in the towns of Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans and Chatham.

Wellfleet is a New England town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States and is located halfway between the " tip " and " elbow " of Cape Cod.

Originally settled in the 1650s by the Europeans as Billingsgate ( after the famous fish market in East London ), Wellfleet was part of neighboring Eastham until 1763, achieving town status after nearly 30 years of petitioning.

In 1717, the pirate Samuel Bellamy was sailing near what is now Wellfleet when his ship, the Whydah sank off shore.

Wellfleet is bordered by Truro to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Eastham to the south, and Cape Cod Bay to the west.

Wellfleet is approximately fourteen miles south of Provincetown, thirty-three miles ( by road ) northeast of Barnstable, forty-eight miles from the Sagamore Bridge, and one hundred miles ( by road ) southeast of Boston.

The lands of Wellfleet wrap around Wellfleet Harbor, extending from the main portion of the Cape around the harbor to Jeremy Point.

The Billingsgate shoals are split between Wellfleet and neighboring Eastham.

This land is now protected by the Massachusetts Audubon Society in its Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary.

The CCRTA, which runs between Hyannis and Provincetown, also makes stops in Wellfleet.

Psychohistory relies heavily on historical biography.

Others have dismissed deMause's theories and motives arguing that the emphasis given by Psychohistory to speculation on the psychological motivations of people in history make it an undisciplined field of study.

Called forth to stand trial on Trantor for allegations of treason ( for foreshadowing the decline of the Galactic Empire ), Seldon explains that his science of Psychohistory foresees many alternatives, all of which result in the Galactic Empire eventually falling.

Psychohistory is based on group trends and cannot predict with sufficient accuracy the effects of extraordinary, unforeseeable individuals ; and, as originally presented, the Second Foundation's purpose was to counter this flaw.

Psychohistory depends on the idea that, while one cannot foresee the actions of a particular individual, the laws of statistics as applied to large groups of people could predict the general flow of future events.

Psychohistory has one basic, underlying limitation which Asimov postulated for the first time on literally the last page of the final book in the Foundation series: psychohistory only functions in a galaxy populated only by humans.
