Work on the ASCII standard began on October 6, 1960, with the first meeting of the American Standards Association's ( ASA ) X3. 2 subcommittee.

The American Standard Code for Information Interchange ( ASCII ) was developed under the auspices of a committee of the American Standards Association, called the X3 committee, by its X3. 2 ( later X3L2 ) subcommittee, and later by that subcommittee's X3. 2. 4 working group.

With the other special characters and control codes filled in, ASCII was published as ASA X3. 4-1963, leaving 28 code positions without any assigned meaning, reserved for future standardization, and one unassigned control code.

The X3. 2. 4 task group voted its approval for the change to ASCII at its May 1963 meeting.

ASCII was subsequently updated as USASI X3. 4-1967, then USASI X3. 4-1968, ANSI X3. 4-1977, and finally, ANSI X3. 4-1986 ( the first two are occasionally retronamed ANSI X3. 4-1967, and ANSI X3. 4-1968 ).

Independent tests indicate that the " 10. 2 MP " array of the Foveon X3 sensor ( in the Sigma SD10 ) has a resolution similar to a 5 MP

The X5 was not fitted with the new BMW R6 engine, which increased power for both the 2. 5i and 3. 0i I6 versions of the 2006 X3 and Z4 significantly.

The current exceptions are the Micro Four Thirds system by Olympus and Panasonic ; the Sigma DP1, which uses a Foveon X3 sensor ; the Leica X1 ; the Canon PowerShot G1 X, which uses a 1. 5 " ( 18. 7 x 14mm ) sensor that is slightly larger than the Four Thirds standard and is 30 % of a fullframe sensor ; and two models from Sony, the RX100 with a 1 "- type ( 13. 2 x 8. 8mm ) sensor with about half the area of Four Thirds and the full-frame Sony RX1.

PHIGS was designed in the 1980s, inheriting many of its ideas from the Graphical Kernel System of the late 1970s, and became an ANSI ( ANSI X3. 144-1988 ), FIPS ( FIPS 153 ) and then ISO standard ( ISO / IEC 9592 and ISO / IEC 9593 ) by 1989.

The control sequences used by the VT100 family are based on the ANSI X3. 64 standard, also known as ECMA-48 and ISO / IEC 6429.

The VT100 was not the first terminal to be based on X3. 64 — The Heath Company had a microprocessor-based video terminal, the Heathkit H-19 ( H19 ), that implemented a subset of the standard proposed by ANSI in X3. 64.

ANSI art also contains special ANSI escape sequences that color text with the 16 foreground and 8 background colours offered by ANSI. SYS, an MS-DOS device driver loosely based upon the ANSI X3. 64 standard for text terminals.

It is partially based upon a subset of the text terminal control standard proposed by the ANSI X3L2 Technical Committee on Codes and Character Sets ( the " X3 Committee ").

Although based on the E46 BMW 3 Series platform and drivetrain, the X3 3. 0i disappointing in acceleration and handling compared to the BMW 330xi sedan ( which weighed 100 pounds less ), while cargo capacity was at best comparable to the BMW 325xi wagon which was less expensive and have better driving dynamics.

Mega Man X3, also originally on the SNES, is based on its 32-bit update for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC.

The version of Mega Man X3 included is based on the PlayStation version instead of the Super NES version.

Work on making APT an international standard started in 1963 under USASI X3. 4. 7, but many manufacturers of NC machines had their own one-off additions ( like PRONTO ), so standardization was not completed until 1968, when there were 25 optional add-ins to the basic system.

Marketed below the E53 and later E70, the X3 was presented at the IAA 2003 and is since January 2004 on the market.

The company also undertook substantial development on the BMW X3 and manufactures all first generation X3s, the Aston Martin Rapide and developed several cars on behalf of manufacturers such as the Audi TT, Fiat Bravo and Peugeot RCZ.

Ever since 3rd July 2011, these buses have been used in Malta by the company Arriva on lines 11, 12, 13, 41, X1, X2, X3, X4 and X6.
