For a compilation album of the Glenmark duo Gemini, Andersson had Björn Ulvaeus write new Swedish lyrics for the re-recording of two old songs ; Ulvaeus also wrote new English lyrics to older Swedish language songs for opera singer Anne Sofie von Otter tribute album " I Let The Music Speak ".

During the January 1969 sessions for the Let It Be album, the Beatles played a slow impromptu version of " Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues " — although not written by Holly, it was popularized by him — with Lennon mimicking Holly's vocal style ; the recording was eventually released in the mid-1990s on Anthology 3.

His final solo album of the decade was 1987's Never Let Me Down, where he ditched the light sound of his previous two albums, instead offering harder rock with an industrial / techno dance edge.

In 2005 Coleman appeared in WWE Superstar John Cena's music video for his single Bad, Bad Man ( from the album You Can't See Me ), Coleman played the part of himself as a bad guy taking the 1980s pop stars Madonna and Michael Jackson hostage.

Later artists performing comical versions of this song included Archie Campbell on his Have A Laugh On Me album in 1966, and Buck Owens on his album Too Old To Cut The Mustard in 1972.

He released Come By Me, his first album of big band music in eight years in 1999, and embarked on a world tour visiting the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia.

Following the issuing of two " albums ", Please, Please, Please and Try Me, Brown, under the billing James Brown and The Famous Flames, issued his first full length album, Think !.
