In this, the emperor was assisted by five chief lawyers: L. Fulvius Aburnius Valens, an author of legal treatises ; L. Volusius Maecianus, chosen to conduct the legal studies of Marcus Aurelius, and author of a large work on Fidei Commissa ( Testamentary Trusts ); L. Ulpius Marcellus, a prolific writer ; and two others.

If the Bastarnae remained an identifiable group, it is highly likely that they participated in the vast Gothic-led migration, driven by Hunnic pressure, that was admitted into Moesia by emperor Valens in 376 and eventually defeated and killed Valens at Adrianople in 378.

After the shock of the Battle of Adrianople in 378, in which the emperor Valens with the flower of the Roman armies was destroyed by the Visigoths within a few days ' march, the city looked to its defences, and in 413 – 414, Theodosius II built the 18-meter ( 60-foot )- tall triple-wall fortifications, which were never to be breached until the coming of gunpowder.

Hoping that they would become farmers and soldiers, the emperor Valens allowed them to establish themselves in the Empire as allies ( foederati ).

Valens ( of the Eastern Empire ) then asked Gratian, the western emperor, for reinforcements to fight the Goths.

In 378, their uncle, the Emperor Valens, was killed in battle with the Goths at Adrianople, and Gratian invited the general Theodosius to be emperor in the East.

One literary tradition claims that Decius was betrayed by his successor Trebonianus Gallus, who was involved in a secret alliance with the Goths but this cannot be substantiated and was most likely a later invention since Gallus felt compelled to adopt Decius ' younger son, Gaius Valens Hostilianus, as joint emperor even though the latter was too young to rule in his own right.

The Dargāh Sharīf of Khwāja Mu ' īnuddīn Chishtī is situated at the foot of the Tārāgaṛh hill, and consists of several white marble buildings arranged around two courtyards, including a massive gate donated by the Nizām of Hyderabad and the Akbari Mosque, built by the Mughal emperor Shāh Jahān.

Other scholars conclude that the Abomination of Desolation refers to the Crucifixion, an attempt by the emperor Hadrian to erect a statue to Jupiter in the Jewish temple, or an attempt by Caligula to have a statue depicting him as Zeus built in the temple.

The Shalimar Gardens ( Lahore ) | Shalimar Gardens, comprising over four-hundred fountains, were built by the Mughal emperor.

Even at the height of its development as a chariot-racing circuit, the circus remained the most suitable space in Rome for religious processions on a grand scale, and was the most popular venue for large-scale venationes ; in the late 3rd century, the emperor Probus laid on a spectacular Circus show in which beasts were hunted through a veritable forest of trees, on a specially built stage.

Another project built during Qin Shihuang's rule was the Terracotta army, intended to protect the emperor after his death.

Its later name, originally Constantia, comes either from the Roman emperor Constantius Chlorus, who fought the Alemanni in the region and built a strong fortress around 300 AD, or from his grandson Constantius II, who visited the region in 354.

A Roman monumental temple was built there c. 44 and was dedicated to the emperor Claudius.
