Arulmolivarman becomes the heir apparent, and later the great Rajaraja Chola I.

Written in 5 volumes, this narrates the story of Arulmozhivarman ( later crowned as Rajaraja Chola I ), one of the kings of the Chola Dynasty during the 10th & 11th centuries.

He conquered the country from a vassal chief of the Pallavas, and established Pazhayaarai as the capital of the dynasty which was later shifted to Thanjavur during the rule of Sundara Chola.

Parantaka Chola II ( son of Arinjaya, also known popularly as Sundara Chola as he was exotically handsome and ruled the kingdom particularly well ), though later fell fatally ill as his legs were paralysed.

Aditya Karikalan is the general of the Northern Command and lived in Kanchi and Arulmozhivarman ( who would be famous later as Raja Raja Chola I ) is in Sri Lanka in battle and their sister Kundavai Piratti lived in Chola royal household at Pazhayarai.

The temple was later renovated during the period of the Chola monarch Rajendra Chola I in the 10th century and Vijayanagara kings in the 15th century.

The Pandya power extended from the Telugu countries on banks of the Godavari river to the northern half of Sri Lanka, which was invaded by Sundara Pandyan I in 1258 and on his behalf by his younger brother Jatavarman Vira Pandyan I from 1262-1264. later Jatavarman Sundara Pandiyan appointed his brother to rule KOngu country, Chola nadu and Hoysala country.

Chalukyan capital of Manyakheta – called Mannaikadakkam in Chola annals ), Irattapadikonda Sozhan ( the king who conquered Irattapadi or the land of the Rashtrakutas ( later usurped by the Chalukyas ), Nirupathivaagaran ( the king who subdued Hoysala Nrupathunga and his successors ).

This was the first full-fledged war between the Cholas and Chalukyas in which Rajadhiraja Chola took the command of the Chola army in which he shone and proved his capabilities to his eager father (***) As a gift to his father, Rajadhiraja or Vijayarajendra brought two Dwarapalakas from Chalukya country which were initially placed at the big temple at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, of which one is still standing at the Sarabeshwarar temple in Tirubhuvanam, which was built by a later Chola king Kulothunga III.
