In Jerusalem he saw Theodora Komnene, the beautiful widow of King Baldwin III and niece of the Emperor Manuel.

During this time the queen dowager, Baldwin III's widow Theodora, eloped with her cousin Andronicus to Damascus, and Acre, which had been in her possession, reverted back into the royal domain of Jerusalem.

Theodora died in 548, perhaps of cancer, at a relatively young age ; Justinian outlived her by almost twenty years.

Paschal died soon afterwards, but the Roman Curia refused him the honour of burial within St. Peter's Basilica, and he was buried in the basilica of Santa Prassede, which includes the famous Episcopa Theodora mosaic of his mother.

Constantine XI married twice: the first time on 1 July 1428 to Theodora Tocco, niece of Carlo I Tocco of Epirus, who died in November 1429 ; the second time to Caterina Gattilusio, daughter of Dorino of Lesbos, who also died, during childbirth, in 1442.

By his marriage to Theodora ( who died in 922 ), Romanos had six children, including:

Apparently a very plain woman, she was overlooked in favour of her sister Zoe, who was selected as the potential bride, but Otto III died before she could be wed. From that point onwards, Theodora lived a life of virtual total obscurity in the imperial gynaeceum until circumstances ( her uncle Basil II dying childless and her dying father not siring any sons ) forced her into the centre of imperial politics.

Theodora became gravely ill with an intestinal disorder in late August 1056, and died a few days later, on 31 August 1056, at the age of 76.

The eldest was Isaakios Doukas Vatatzes ( died 1261 ), who married and had two children: Ioannes Vatatzes ( born 1215 ), who married to Eudokia Angelina and had two daughters Theodora Doukaina Vatatzaina, wife of Michael VIII Palaiologos, and Maria Vatatzaina, married to Michael Doukas Glabas Tarchaneiotes, Military Goveror of Thrace ; and a daughter, married to Konstantinos Strategopoulos.

In 548, Theodora died, and Emperor Justinian recalled John to Constantinople.

Then in 925 Theophylact of Tusculum and Alberic I of Spoleto also died ; this meant that within the course of a year, three of Pope John ’ s key supporters had died, leaving John dangerously exposed to the ambitions of Theophylact ’ s daughter, Marozia, who, it was said, resented John ’ s alleged affair with her mother Theodora.

He had married twice, firstly in Constantinople ca 1318 or 1318 to a Kantakouzene ( died ca 1330 ), without issue, and secondly in 1330 – 1332, Theodora Syrgiannaina ( died 1347 / 1349 ), sister of the pinkernes (" cupbearer ") Syrgiannes Palaiologos Philanthropenos, with whom he fathered two children.

He died in New Rochelle, NY in 1958, survived by his second wife Theodora ( a pianist who had often accompanied him in concert ), their daughter Shoshana ( Rozanna ), his sister Freydele ( a Yiddish theater actress and singer ) and her husband Harold Sternberg, a chorister in the Metropolitan opera.

Evidence of this is given by his marriage to the Byzantine princess Theodora Angelina and his attempt to mediate between Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II and Pope Gregory IX, which he was working on when he died in 1230 in Italy.

His wife Theodora died a few weeks later.

In December 1878, Francis married Charlotte Forten, a noted educator and author, and had one daughter, Theodora Cornelia, who died as an infant.

Julius Constantius ( died September 337 ) was a politician of the Roman Empire and a member of the Constantinian dynasty, being a son of Emperor Constantius Chlorus and his second wife Flavia Maximiana Theodora, a younger half-brother of Emperor Constantine I and the father of Emperor Julian.
