Lambda, Mu, Xi, Nu, Gamma, and Alpha Ceti represented its head ; Omicron, Zeta, and Chi Ceti represented its body ; Eta Eri, Tau Cet, and Upsilon Cet marked its legs and feel ; and Theta, Eta, and Beta Ceti delineated its tail.

He studied at Columbia University where he was a member of the Epsilon Chapter of the Theta Xi Fraternity.

Adderley was initiated as an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity ( Gamma Theta chapter, University of North Texas, ' 60, & Xi Omega chapter, Frostburg State University, ' 70 ) and Alpha Phi Alpha ( Beta Nu chapter, Florida A & M University ).

Allen is a member of several organizations, including the American Physical Society, the American Astronautical Society, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Xi, and Phi Eta Sigma.

The sororities are Alpha Chi Lambda, Alpha Theta Chi, Gamma Xi, Kappa Delta Omega, Kappa Sigma Alpha, Sigma Lambda Upsilon, and Phi Beta Chi.

The brothers of the Xi chapter at the University of Michigan in 1879 constituted the Theta Xi chapter at the University of Toronto, making Zeta Psi the first international Fraternity as well.

It took root at no fewer than fourteen colleges in those latter days: Omega was founded at University of Chicago in 1864 ; Pi at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1865 ; Lambda, Bowdoin College, 1867 ; Beta, University of Virginia, 1868 ; Psi, Cornell University, 1868 ; Iota, UC Berkeley, 1870 ; Gamma, first at the US Naval Academy in 1874, and then at Syracuse College in 1875 after the government proscribed Fraternities at its military academies ; Theta Xi, University of Toronto, 1879 ; Alpha, Columbia University, 1879 ; Alpha Psi, McGill University, 1883 ; Nu, Case Western Reserve, 1884 ; Eta, Yale, 1889 ; Mu, Stanford, 1892 ; Alpha Beta, University of Minnesota, 1899 ( The establishment of the Eta chapter at Yale made Zeta Psi the only fraternity to establish chapters at all eight Ivy-League schools ).

Particularly stricken were the Alpha Psi and Theta Xi chapters at McGill and U Toronto.

The distinctive gold key membership pin was adopted in 1930 and is officially described by Phi Theta Kappa as follows:

In 1911, representatives of the three chapters and the alumni association met at the University of Minnesota for the first national convention, the name was changed to Theta Tau, a revised ritual approved, and the present badge adopted.

The convention in 1964 adopted the colony program as the standard route which a local fraternity would follow in becoming a Theta Tau Chapter.

The house reincorporated as a local fraternity and adopted the name Alpha Theta.

Note that many Greek words with Theta were adopted in Russian with Te ( Т т ) instead of Fita ( mostly through Latin or other Western European languages ): театръ ( theatre ), теорема ( theorem ), атлетъ ( athlete ), пантера ( panther ), фталевый ( phthalic ), etc.

The policy has since been adopted by other fraternities including Theta Chi and Phi Gamma Delta ( FIJI ), although Theta Chi has discontinued their Alcohol Free Housing Policy as of July 2010.

On December 28, 1947, the Delta Jabberwock was formally adopted and copyrighted by Delta Sigma Theta.
