A dayereh ( or doyra, dojra, dajre, doira, daire ) is a medium-sized frame drum with jingles used to accompany both popular and classical music in Iran ( Persia ), the Balkans, and many central Asian countries such as Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

A daf is a large-sized tambourine used to accompany both popular and classical music in Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey ( where it is called tef ), Uzbekistan ( where it's called childirma ), India ( where it is known as the Dafli ) and Turkmenistan.

Tajikistan is nestled between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to the north and west, China to the east, and Afghanistan to the south.

Because the Khujand – Dushanbe route is closed in winter, the Anzob Tunnel was built to bypass the mountain crossing and open a route connecting Tashkent ( Uzbekistan ) and points north with Afghanistan and Pakistan to the south, via Tajikistan.

Turkmenistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordering the Caspian Sea to the west, Iran and Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the north-east, and Kazakhstan to the north-west.

The pistachio, Pistacia vera in the Anacardiaceae family, is a small tree originally from Greater Iran ( Iran and Iraq ) which now can also be found in regions of Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Tunisia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Italy ( Sicily ), Uzbekistan, Afghanistan ( especially in the provinces of Samangan and Badghis ), and the United States, specifically in California.

Already education in many areas of Uzbekistan is in the Latin script, Most street signs are also in the new Latin script.

It includes present-day Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang. Many would also include Turkic regions of Russia ( Tatarstan & parts of Siberia ) as well.

The Kazakhs ( also spelled Kazaks, Qazaqs ; ; the English name is transliterated from Russian ) are a Turkic people of the northern parts of Central Asia ( largely Kazakhstan, but also found in parts of Uzbekistan, China, Russia, and Mongolia ).

It also occurs in semi-dry sub-tropical areas of Central Asia ( Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Oman, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan ), southern Europe ( Italy, Malta, Albania, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus ), North Africa ( Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia ), and along the shores of the Gulf of Aden and in the Middle East.

It is also common in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

It extended from southern Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, north of the Amu Darya ( Oxus ) in the north west to Northern India, as far as Mathura in the south east ( the Rabatak inscription even claims he held Pataliputra and Sri Champa ), and his territory also included Kashmir, where there was a town Kanishkapur, named after him not far from the Baramula Pass and which still contains the base of a large stupa.

Bukhari ( بخاري ), also spelled as Bokhari, Bukhary and Bukhori, is a common surname in Central and Western Asia, meaning " from Bukhara " ( in today Uzbekistan ).

* September 26-An article in The Guardian on September 26, 2001, also adds evidence that there were already signs in the first half of 2001 that Washington was moving to threaten Afghanistan militarily from the north, by way of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
