The Khadrs were registered as operators of a Canadian charity, and closed their office in the upscale Wazir Akbar Khan neighbourhood to bring work in their own home.

The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir, a young boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, whose closest friend is Hassan, his father's young Hazara servant.

Amir Akbar Khan ( 1816 – 1845 ; ), born as Mohammad Akbar Khan () and famously known as Wazir Akbar Khan, was an Afghan prince, general, and emir for about three years until his death.

Among his other constructions are the Red Fort also called the Delhi Fort or Lal Qila in Urdu, large sections of Agra Fort, the Jama Masjid, the Wazir Khan Mosque, the Moti Masjid, the Shalimar Gardens, sections of the Lahore Fort, the Jahangir mausoleum — his father's tomb, the construction of which was overseen by his stepmother Nur Jahan and the Shahjahan Mosque.

In 1813 he accompanied his elder brother and then Prime Minister of Kabul Wazir Fateh Khan to the Battle of Attock, Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Sikh Empire sent his general Diwan Mohkam Chand to lead the Sikh armies.

He was born to Parents, Ghazi ud-Din Khan Siddiqi Feroze Jung I and his first wife Wazir un-nisa Begum at Agra, 20 August 1671 as Mir Qamar ud-din Khan Siddiqi.

Later upon return to Eastern Punjab settling down at Anandpur his followers began to refer to him as the " Sacha Badshah " ( True King ) Mughal officials such as Nur Muhammad Khan of Rupnagar, Dilawar Khan the Faujdar of Sirhind and Wazir Khan had him arrested and he was taken to Delhi and put to death by Aurangzeb in 1675.

The royal courts of Rewa, Rampur and Jaipur among others, retained many noted members of Tansen lineage, including Nayak Wazir Khan ( master of Allauddin Khan ) and Mohammed Ali Khan.

Wazir Khan, who is of Saraswati Devi lineage, was also a musicologist who wrote the Risala Mousibi.

One of the last of the line, Dr Dabir Khan, ( 1905 – 1972, Saraswati Devi lineage ) was a dhrupadiya and a beenkar, at Radio Calcutta. As of 15 / 04 / 2012 Imtiyaz Ali khan Khandara son of the Younger brother of Ustad Wazir khan is still alive and resides in Rampur.

This has been confirmed by Imtiyaz Ali Khan, the last descendant of Miyan Tansen. Imtiyaz Ali Khan is the grandson of Ustad Amir Khan and nephew of Nayak Wazir Khan, i. e. the son of younger brother ( Fida Ali Khan ) of Ustad Wazir Khan. Imtiyaz Ali Khan resides in Rampur.

Although the proposal seemed to have been approved, the plans of the British were thwarted by the uprising of Dost Muhammad's son Muhammad Akbar Khan, who defeated and annihilated the British-Indian garrison at Gandamak on its retreat from Kabul in January 1842.

Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, was assassinated by Saad Akbar, a lone assassin, in 1951.

In 1836 Dost Mohammad's forces, under the command of his son Akbar Khan, defeated the Sikhs at the Battle of Jamrud, a post fifteen kilometres west of Peshawar.

Muhammad Akbar Khan, son of the captive Dost Muhammad, arrived in Kabul and became effective leader of the sirdars.

Afghan forces loyal to Akbar Khan besieged the remaining British contingents at Kandahar, Ghazni and Jalalabad.

The forces from Kandahar and Jalalabad again defeated Akbar Khan, retook Ghazni and Kabul, inflicted widespread devastation and rescued the prisoners before withdrawing through the Khyber Pass.

After months of chaos in Kabul, Mohammad Akbar Khan secured local control and in April 1843 his father Dost Mohammad, who had been released by the British, returned to the throne in Afghanistan.

Mohammad Akbar Khan died in 1845.

Reputed names in the domain of Indian classical music like Ravi Shankar, Vilayat Khan, Ali Akbar Khan and Ram Narayan have also composed music for films.

In the 1842 Battle of Jellalabad, Akbar Khan besieged the British troops on their way to Jalalabad.

In the year 1594 Jahangir's was dispatched by his father the Mughal Emperor Akbar, alongside Abdul Hasan Asaf Khan and Abu ' l-Fazl ibn Mubarak to defeat the renegade Vir Singh Deo of Bandela and capture the city of Orchha, which was considered the center of the revolt.

Akbar Khan took to the throne from 1842 to 1845 who was followed by Dost Mohammad Khan.

The Afghans then engaged in many wars with the Punjabi Sikh Empire of Ranjit Singh, which included the Battle of Jamrud in which Hari Singh Nalwa was killed by Akbar Khan.
