White had already compiled masses of notes about the Presidential campaign of 1960.

* 1587 – Virginia Dare, granddaughter of Governor John White of the Colony of Roanoke, becomes the first English child born in the Americas.

After John Hinckley's attempted assassination of U. S. President Ronald Reagan, first lady Nancy Reagan commissioned astrologer Joan Quigley to act as the secret White House astrologer.

* the " Lost Colony " of Roanoke Island: In 1587, Sir Walter Raleigh recruited over 100 men, women and children to journey from England to Roanoke Island on North Carolina's coast and establish the first English settlement in America under the direction of John White as governor.

The fact of her birth is known because the governor of the settlement, Virginia Dare's grandfather, John White, returned to England in 1587 to seek fresh supplies.

One was his visit as a Boys Nation senator to the White House to meet President John F. Kennedy.

However, John F. Harris, a biographer of Clinton's, states the program failed because of a lack of coordination within the White House.

The next major addition was the White Wing 1882 – 1884 added behind the eastern end of the South Front, the architect being Sir John Taylor.

In 1965, the Indians traded pitcher Tommy John, who would go on to win 288 games in his career, and 1966 Rookie of the Year Tommy Agee to the White Sox to get Colavito back.

In his 17th-century work Monumenta Britannica, English antiquarian John Aubrey ascribes the Uffington White Horse hill figure to Hengist and Horsa, stating that " the White Horse was their Standard at the Conquest of Britain.

Enraged Whig Party members riot outside the White House in the most violent demonstration on White House grounds in U. S. history.

Later, he was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice in a scandal involving a White House intern, but was acquitted by the U. S. Senate and served his complete term of office.

The ship ’ s logbook was found by Michelle Gatz and shows the ship was carrying classified cargo that was offloaded under armed guard at White Beach a U. S. Navy port on Okinawa ’ s east coast on April 25, 1962.

Since, the White Sox have played in U. S. Cellular Field, which was originally called New Comiskey Park and nicknamed The Cell by local fans.

Probably the most infamous moment in the White Sox rivalry was in 1994 when the White Sox confiscated Albert Belle's corked bat, and the ensuing attempt by Indians pitcher Jason Grimsley to crawl through the Comiskey Park ( now U. S. Cellular Field ) clubhouse ceiling to retrieve it.

White House historians assert that U. S. President Andrew Jackson held an open house party where a 1, 400 lb ( 635 kg ) block of Cheddar cheese was served as " refreshment ".

In the U. S., such an Easter egg roll ( unrelated to an eggroll ) is often done on flat ground, pushed along with a spoon ; the Easter Egg Roll has become a much-loved annual event on the White House lawn.

These were the sole immigration records for entering the country and were prepared not by the U. S. The Village ( and surrounding New York City ) would later play central roles in the writings of, among others, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, James Baldwin, Truman Capote, Marianne Moore, Maya Angelou, Rod McKuen, and Dylan Thomas, who collapsed at the Chelsea Hotel and died at St. Vincents Hospital at 170 West 12th Street, in the Village after drinking at the White Horse Tavern on November 5, 1953.

* 1998 – Lewinsky scandal: On American television, U. S. President Bill Clinton denies having had " sexual relations " with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

* 1877 – American Indian Wars: Battle of White Bird Canyon – the Nez Perce defeat the U. S. Cavalry at White Bird Canyon in the Idaho Territory.

* 1972 – Watergate Scandal: U. S. President Richard M. Nixon and White House Chief of Staff H. R. Haldeman are taped talking about using the Central Intelligence Agency to obstruct the Federal Bureau of Investigation's investigation into the Watergate break-ins.

* 1886 – U. S. President Grover Cleveland marries Frances Folsom in the White House, becoming the only president to wed in the executive mansion.

* 1974 – Watergate scandal: U. S. President Richard Nixon releases subpoenaed White House recordings after being ordered to do so by the Supreme Court of the United States.
