Wrightstown later became incorporated in 1875 and renamed Hull, Quebec, and then in 2002, as a result of a municipal amalgamation, it acquired its present name of the City of Gatineau.

The original settlement was called Wrightstown, later it became Hull and in 2002, after amalgamation, the City of Gatineau.

Originally the place was named " Wrightville " ( or sometimes " Wrightsville " or " Wrightstown "), which survives as the name of a neighborhood in Hull.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Wrightstown borough had a total area of 1. 768 square miles ( 4. 579 km < sup > 2 </ sup >), all of which was land.

Prior to the 2011 reapportionment following the 2010 Census, Wrightstown Boro had been in the 8th state legislative district.
