By April, the Revolution had spread to eighteen states, including Morelos where the leader was Emiliano Zapata.

He had to care for his family because his father died when Zapata was 17 and at La Mirada.

Although Zapata had turned 30 only a month before, the voters knew that it was necessary to elect an individual who would be responsible for the village and who was well respected by the village people.

Zapata became a leading figure in the village of Anenecuilco, where his family had lived for many generations, and he became involved in struggles for the rights of the campesinos of Morelos.

This seemed to some to be an ending blow to the movement because Burgos had not selected a successor for his position ; however, Zapata was ready to take up where Burgos had left off.

This seemed to be the fix to all of the problems that had just arisen, but other individuals wanted to replace Zapata as well.

This was a turning point in the level of authority and influence that Zapata had gained and proved useful in the direct overthrow of Morelos.

Madero sent several generals in an attempt to deal with Zapata, but these efforts had little success.

If there was anyone that Zapata hated more than Díaz and Madero, it was Victoriano Huerta, the bitter, violent alcoholic who had been responsible for many atrocities in southern Mexico while trying to end the rebellion.

Zapata was not alone: in the north, Pancho Villa, who had supported Madero, immediately took to the field against Huerta.

While the Mexican Revolution did restore some land that had been stolen under Diaz, the land reform on the scale imagined by Zapata would never be enacted.

When Huerta fell in 1914, Siqueiros became enmeshed in the “ post-revolutionary ” infighting, as the Constitutional Army had to battle the political factions of Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata for control.

Zapata lost a 15 round decision that night, but in 1986, after Laciar had vacated the crown, the WBA gave him a second chance, and he beat Alonzo Gonzalez to win the WBA world Flyweight championship.

Zapata had a record of 43 wins and 10 losses, with 1 draw, and 15 wins by knockout.

On 4 April 1961, President Kennedy then approved the Bay of Pigs plan ( also known as Operation Zapata ), because it had an airfield that would not need to be extended to handle bomber operations, it was farther away from large groups of civilians than the Trinidad plan, and it was less " noisy " militarily, which would make any future denial of direct US involvement more plausible.

During Cárdenas's presidency, the government enacted a great deal of the land reform that Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata had envisioned and redistributed of hacienda land to peasants.

Prescott Bush was a director of Dresser Industries, which is now part of Halliburton ; his son, former president George H. W. Bush, worked for Dresser Industries in several positions from 1948 to 1951, before he founded Zapata Corporation.

Zapata Corporation is a holding company based in Rochester, New York, and originating from an oil company started by a group including the former United States president George H. W. Bush.

The company traces its origins to Zapata Oil, founded in 1953 by future-U. S. President George H. W. Bush, along with his business partners John Overbey, Hugh Liedtke, Bill Liedtke, and Thomas J. Devine.

Two Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) memoranda have been offered to show connections between the CIA and George H. W. Bush during his time at Zapata.

The oil rig Maverick, owned by future president George H. W. Bush's Zapata corporation also disappeared during the cyclone.

One of the companies that Glazer did purchase successfully was the nearly bankrupt Zapata Offshore, a remnant of Zapata, an oil and gas company founded by George H. W. Bush, which was left over after the latter's takeover by South Penn Oil to create Pennzoil.

In the south, revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata was skeptical about disbanding his troops, but Madero traveled south to meet with Zapata at Cuernavaca and Cuautla, Morelos.

Madero assured Zapata that the land redistribution promised in the Plan of San Luis Potosí would be carried out when Madero became president.

They spread exaggerated stories of atrocities committed by Zapata's troops, calling Zapata the " Attila of the South.

Madero once again traveled south to urge Zapata to disband his troops peacefully, but Zapata refused on the grounds that Huerta's troops were advancing on Yautepec de Zaragoza.

At the same time, several of Madero's allies denounced him for being overly reconciliatory with the Porfirians and with not moving aggressively forward with reforms: thus, on 25 November 1911, Emiliano Zapata issued his Plan of Ayala, denouncing Madero for being uninterested in pursuing land reform.

Madero's leadership of the Revolution, presidency and assassination are depicted in at least two Hollywood movies, Viva Villa !, ( 1934 ) directed by Jack Conway, screenplay by Ben Hecht, and Viva Zapata !, ( 1952 ) directed by Elia Kazan, screenplay by John Steinbeck.
