Just as work began at the Champ de Mars, the " Committee of Three Hundred " ( one member for each metre of the tower's height ) was formed, led by Charles Garnier and including some of the most important figures of the French arts establishment, including Adolphe Bouguereau, Guy de Maupassant, Charles Gounod and Jules Massenet: a petition was sent to Charles Alphand, the Minister of Works, and was published by Le Temps.

For his 1857 Prix de Rome entry Bizet, with Gounod's enthusiastic approval, chose to set the cantata Clovis et Clotilde by Amédée Burion.

Later that year, she married Amédée de Broglie, who commissioned the luxurious stables in 1877 to designs by Paul-Ernest Sanson, further restored the château under Sanson's direction and replanted the surrounding park in the English naturalistic landscape fashion.

The only surviving version of this book, kept at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, and first translated by Pierre Amédée Jaubert, reports that, after having reached an area of " sticky and stinking waters " ( probably the Sargasso Sea ), the Mugharrarin moved back and first reached an uninhabited Island ( Madeira or Hierro ), where they found " a huge quantity of sheep, which its meat was bitter and inedible " and, then, " continued southward " and reached another island where they were soon surrounded by barks and brought to " a village whose inhabitants were often fair haired with long and flaxen hair and the women of a rare beauty ".

Victor then deployed GdD Gaspard Amédée Gardanne and GdD Jacques-Antoine de Chambarlhac de Laubespin ’ s divisions along the Fontanone stream.

In front of the Austrian army were stationed, in and to the south of Marengo, the corps of Victor ( Jacques-Antoine de Chambarlhac de Laubespin and Gaspard Amédée Gardanne's divisions ), supported on the left by François Étienne de Kellermann's cavalry and, further to the northeast, by the corps of Lannes ( François Watrin's division, Mainoni's brigade ) together with two cavalry brigades.

Rolle was the birthplace of Frédéric-César de La Harpe and Amédée de La Harpe, two important figures in the French Revolution and the end of the Ancien Régime of Switzerland.

Amédée de La Harpe presided, in Rolle on 15 July 1791, over a revolutionary banquet.

They included Jules Barbey d ' Aurevilly, Villiers de L ' Isle Adam and Léon Bloy.

Lower Normandy has also been the home of many well-known French authors, including Guy de Maupassant, Marcel Proust, Jules Barbey d ' Aurevilly.

Rops's association with Baudelaire and with the art he represented won his work the admiration of many other writers, including Théophile Gautier, Alfred de Musset, Stéphane Mallarmé, Jules Barbey d ’ Aurevilly, and Joséphin Péladan.

The writers and dandies Baudelaire and Jules Barbey d ' Aurevilly also had some influence, but the most important model was the notorious aristocratic aesthete Robert de Montesquiou, who was also the basis for Baron de Charlus in Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu.

Amongst French authors, he shows nothing but contempt for the Romantics but adores the poetry of Baudelaire and that of the nascent Symbolist movement of Paul Verlaine, Tristan Corbière and Stéphane Mallarmé, as well as the decadent fiction of the unorthodox Catholic writers Auguste Villiers de l ' Isle-Adam and Barbey d ' Aurevilly.
