Night and Stormrider
Night of the Stormrider was once again recorded at Morrisound Recording, with Schaffer and Tom Morris as producers.
Following Night of the Stormrider release, Iced Earth once again toured Europe with Blind Guardian.
Following the supporting tour for Night of the Stormrider, Iced Earth took a three year layoff from 1992 to 1995.
Jon Schaffer also created original stories for concept albums, most notably on Night of the Stormrider, Framing Armageddon ( Something Wicked Part 1 ) and its sequel The Crucible of Man ( Something Wicked Part 2 ).

Night of the Stormrider is American heavy metal band Iced Earth's second full-length album.
Night of the Stormrider is the only album featuring lead singer John Greely ( who was later fired ) and drummer Rick Secchiari.
Like the album's predecessor, Night of the Stormrider is mostly a thrash metal release, the main reason being that the album is unusually riff-based when compared to other Iced Earth releases, and Greely's vocals, which are slightly more aggressive than the power metal reminiscent vocals of Matt Barlow.

Most of the songs from the Enter the Realm EP, Iced Earth, and Night of the Stormrider were re-sung by Matt Barlow, and on some of the songs the drums and bass were redone.
" Winter Nights " was recorded during early sessions for Night of the Stormrider while Gene Adam was still on vocals, but this was the track which prompted Schaffer to ask Adam to get singing lessons, as it was felt he could not handle the high notes.
Barlow joined Iced Earth after the Night of the Stormrider tour with Blind Guardian in Europe, as a replacement for John Greely.
The following year, the band released the follow-up album, Night of the Stormrider, which also featured Jon singing lead vocals on the song " Stormrider ".
Schaffer has also expressed interest in doing comic book series based on the Night of the Stormrider album and the Something Wicked Saga.
