" Keen Dreams " aka " The Lost Episode " ( published as shareware by Softdisk )

* On August 3, 2007, episodes 1-5 ( excluding " Keen Dreams " and " Aliens Ate My Babysitter ") were rereleased on Steam as part of the id Software game addition to Steam.

However, the developers of id had a contract with Softdisk requiring them to write several more games, one of which became Keen Dreams.

Keen Dreams is sometimes referred to as " Keen 3. 5 ", " Keen 7 ", or the " Lost Episode ", as it was never distributed by Apogee.

and Aliens Ate My Babysitter !, all the improvements from Keen Dreams are kept, except for the " Flower Power ".

In " Keen Dreams ", Keen will fall asleep instead of reading a book.

Custom arenas have been created for Keen episodes 4, 5, 6, and Dreams.

The music for the level, titled Eat Your Veggies and originally composed by Bobby Prince for use in Keen Dreams, is also commonly associated with the Dopefish and has inspired some spin-offs compositions including Fish Polka and Dope Jaws by former 3D Realms Music and Sound Director Lee Jackson.

However, to complete their contractual obligation to Softdisk, they did several more games for them including Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion, Rescue Rover, Hovertank 3D, Rescue Rover 2, Tiles of the Dragon, Catacomb 3D and Keen Dreams ( the " lost " episode of the Commander Keen series ).

The second episode introduces moving platforms which can transport Keen, and switches which usually extend bridges over gaps in the floor.

Shetland has three National Nature Reserves, at the seabird colonies of Hermaness and Noss, and at Keen of Hamar to preserve the serpentine flora.

After fighting through many levels of Vorticon-infested cities and military installations, Keen arrives at the lair of the Grand Intellect.

While traveling between levels, Keen is viewed from above on a map, the only place where the player can save the game.

In the years since the release of utilities to modify the levels and graphics in the original Keen series in early 2002, more than fifty mods have been made, most of which feature Commander Keen as the protagonist.

The point of this is to hint that Keen could not traverse these levels.

He designed most of the first episode of Doom, most of the levels in Quake, half the levels in the Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny.

Keen Blade exercises no longer exist due to funding limitations, but Keen Edge ( a biannual command post exercise ) and Keen Sword ( a biannual field exercise ) still do take place, albeit at significantly reduced levels from years past.

The third episode's overworld is a top-down perspective, similar to Commander Keen, changing to the traditional platformer style when entering one of the 15 levels.

Between levels in the shareware version, the player encountered humorous messages that took a swipe at various popular game characters, such as Mario, Commander Keen and Duke Nukem.
