* Gaius Claudius M. f. Marcellus, son of the conspirator, he also took part in Catiline's conspiracy, and attempted to instigate a slave revolt at Capua, but was driven out by Publius Sestius, and took refuge in Bruttium, where he was put to death.

When Cicero, who was consul that year, exposed Catiline's conspiracy to seize control of the republic, several senators accused Caesar of involvement in the plot.

In 62 BC, after Catiline's death, Cicero defended Publius Sulla in court after he was indicted for being a member of the second conspiracy.

The day after the election was supposed to be held, Cicero addressed the Senate on the matter and Catiline's reaction was immediate and violent.

It was not for this conduct, however, that he was accused, but he was indicted for complicity in Catiline's conspiracy ; yet he was convicted on the former charge, so that it was his fate to be found not guilty of the crime for which he was being tried, but to be punished for something of which he was not accused.

Autronius was implicated in Catiline's failed conspiracy to overthrow the government in 66 BC.

Later, these factors would dramatically shape Catiline's ambitions and goals as he would desire above all else to restore the political heritage of his family along with its financial power.

It is not clear who participated in this alleged conspiracy, as the different accounts accuse different people, but Catiline's association with it appears to have been developed after the Second Catilinian Conspiracy.

Sallust is the earliest known Roman historian with surviving works to his name, of which we have Catiline's War ( about the conspiracy in 63 BCE of L. Sergius Catilina ), The Jugurthine War ( about Rome's war against the Numidians from 111 to 105 BCE ), and the Histories ( of which only fragments survive ).

Alternatively, Suetonius claims that Julius Caesar and Marcus Licinius Crassus directed the conspiracy, but he fails to mention Catiline's involvement.
