On 27 June 1293, Wittenberg was granted town rights by Duke Albrecht II.

When Henry died 1335 Jan, King of Bohemia, renounced his claims, and Albrecht, Duke of Austria, received Carniola ; it was proclaimed a duchy by Rudolf IV, in 1364.

Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin ( Heinrich Wladimir Albrecht Ernst ; 19 April 1876 – 3 July 1934 ), later Prince Henry of the Netherlands, was prince consort of the Netherlands as the husband of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands.

In 1556 he joined the court of Albrecht V, Duke of Bavaria, who was consciously attempting to create a musical establishment on a par with the major courts in Italy.

Albert ( Albrekt av Mecklenburg in Swedish ; Albrecht von Mecklenburg in German ; c. 1338 – 1 April 1412 ) was King of Sweden from 1364 to 1389 and Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1384 to 1412 as Albert III.

Eugen was the son of Karl Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria ( son of Archduke Charles, Duke of Teschen ) and of his wife Archduchess Elisabeth Franziska of Austria.

A professional dancer, she caught the eye, at the Carnival of Venice, of Karl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg, who had three children by her.

In 1751 he was appointed a political adviser at Stuttgart, and soon became involved in a struggle – lasting until 1759 – against the absolutist tendencies of Karl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg.

His corpse was gibbeted in a human-sized bird cage that hung outside of Stuttgart in the Pragsattel district for six years until the inauguration of Karl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg, who permitted the hasty burial of his corpse below the gallows.

She was a daughter of Friedrich II Eugen, Duke of Württemberg and his wife, Friederike Dorothea of Brandenburg-Schwedt.

Friedrich Eugen of Württemberg ( 21 January 1732, Stuttgart – 23 December 1797, Hohenheim ), the fourth son of Duke Karl Alexander and Princess Maria Augusta of Thurn and Taxis ( 11 August 1706-1 February 1756 ).

He served as Duke of Württemberg from the death of his older brother Ludwig Eugen in 1795 until his own death two years later.

Ludwig Eugen, Duke of Württemberg ( 6 January 1731, Frankfurt am Main – 20 May 1795, Ludwigsburg ), was the third son of Duke Karl Alexander and Princess Maria Augusta of Thurn and Taxis ( 11 August 1706 ) – 1 February 1756 ).

He succeeded his brother Karl Eugen as Duke of Württemberg in 1793, and reigned until his own death in 1795, when he was succeeded by his younger brother Frederick Eugen.
