The Royal Canadian Navy has a number of professional brass-reed bands on ships: HMCS Carleton in Ottawa, Ontario ; HMCS Chippawa in Winnipeg, Manitoba ; HMCS Discovery in Vancouver, British Columbia ; HMCS Donnacona in Montreal, Quebec ; HMCS Montcalm in Quebec, Quebec ; HMCS Star in Hamilton, Ontario ; HMCS Tecumseh in Calgary, Alberta and HMCS York in Toronto, Ontario.

Despite being far from Canada's coasts, Edmonton is also the home of HMCS Nonsuch, a naval reserve division.

Eleven ships of the Royal Navy and a reserve shore establishment of the Canadian Navy have borne the name HMS / HMCS Discovery, while ships of other branches have also used the name:

* HMCS Discovery, the Vancouver stone frigate of the Canadian Forces Maritime Command reserve, established as a volunteer half-company of the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in 1924 and commissioned as Discovery in 1941.

* HMCS Prevost, Canadian naval reserve unit in London, Ontario

He helped found the old Winnipeg Winter Club on land that is now the HMCS Chippawa naval reserve division, and after World War II he organized the current Winter Club.

Brandon's Army Reserve unit is the 26th Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, and the Canadian warship HMCS Brandon was named after the city.

The War Memorial Gym at University of British Columbia, Royal Canadian Legion hall in Nelson, B. C., numerous other sites in Nelson, and the wardroom of HMCS Tecumseh ( his RCNVR home unit ) also bear plaques in his honour.

The mission began on December the 3rd, 1992 and involved about 1, 400 Canadian troops, a helicopter unit and the supply ship HMCS Preserver.

HMCS Trinity is the name of the organization housed at Stadacona which is tasked with maintaining MARLANT communications with vessels and other Canadian Forces and allied units, as well as developing strategic and tactical operational intelligence for unit commanders.

The Canadian Armed Forces built and tested a number of hydrofoils ( e. g. Baddeck and two vessels named Bras d ' Or ), which culminated in the high-speed anti-submarine hydrofoil HMCS Bras d ' Or in the late 1960s.

Canadian corvette HMCS Rimouski, equipped with an active camouflage system in the form of diffused lighting with projectors beaming light dimly on to its hull to match the faint glow of the night sky, stealthily approached the submarine.

That led to his most famous exploit, in which he masqueraded as Dr. Cyr, working as a trauma surgeon aboard HMCS Cayuga, a Royal Canadian Navy destroyer, during the Korean War.

In 1974, Garneau began his career in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Navy combat systems engineer on HMCS Algonquin.

The corvette HMCS Sackville ( K181 ) is not part of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic but is located adjacent to the museum in the summer and works with the museum to interpret the Royal Canadian Navy.

In 1987, the State Government set aside 96 hectares as an A-class reserve, and funding from the Bicentennial Commemorative Program and assistance from local organisations facilitated the establishment of the Star Swamp Heritage Trail within the reserve.
