On January 9, 1127, Jin forces ransacked Kaifeng, capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, capturing both Emperor Qinzong and his father, Emperor Huizong, who had abdicated in panic in the face of Jin forces.
The Song official Tong Guan ( 1054 – 1126 ) advised Emperor Huizong ( 1100 – 1125 ) to form an alliance with the Jurchens, and their joint military campaign toppled and completely conquered the Liao Dynasty by 1125.
For example, the Song government — excluding the educational-reformist government under Emperor Huizong — spared little amount of state revenue to maintain prefectural and county schools ; instead, the bulk of the funds for schools was drawn from private financing.

Huizong and China
Emperor Huizong ( 2 November 1082 – 4 June 1135 ) was the eighth and one of the most famous emperors of the Song Dynasty of China, with a personal life spent amidst luxury, sophistication and art but ending in tragedy.
A true artist, Huizong neglected the army, and Song China became increasingly weak and at the mercy of foreign enemies, despite his recasting of the symbolic Nine Tripod Cauldrons in 1106 in an attempt to assert his authority.
One of the sons of Huizong managed to escape to Southern China where, after many years of struggle, he would establish the Southern Song Dynasty, of which he was the first emperor, Emperor Gaozong ( 高宗 ).
Some emperors of China also had a liking to the qin, including the Song dynasty emperor, Huizong, as clearly seen in his own painting of himself playing the qin in " Ting Qin Tu ".
After Song's Qinzong and Huizong emperors were captured by the Jurchen, he became the emperor of China and established Southern Song empire.

Huizong and Western
