In the summer of 1970, House toured Europe once again, including an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival ; a recording of his London concerts was released by Liberty Records.

In 1960, Stan Freberg did a parody on the Payola Scandal, by calling it " Old Payola Roll Blues ", a two sided single, where the promoter gets an ordinary teenager, named Clyde Ankle, to record a song, for Obscurity Records, entitled " High School OO OO ", and then tries to offer the song to a Jazz radio station with phony deals that the Disc Jockey just won't buy it.

In 1966, with his orchestra, he recorded an album on the Ranwood Records label, with top-flight Jazz saxophonist Johnny Hodges, featuring a number of Jazz standards, including " Someone to Watch Over Me ", " Misty " and " Fantastic, That's You ".

As had been the case with Riverside, his period with Columbia Records contains many live albums, including Miles and Monk at Newport ( 1963 ), Live at the It Club and Live at the Jazz Workshop, both recorded in 1964, the latter not being released until 1982.

The movement received its biggest impetus ( and its name ), however, when Coleman moved from the West Coast to New York and was signed to Atlantic Records: albums such as The Shape of Jazz to Come and Change of the Century marked a radical step beyond his more conventional early work, and when he released a 1960 recording titled Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation, the name stuck to the movement as a whole.
