Pattadakal ( Kannada-ಪಟ ್ ಟದ ್ ಕಲ ್ ಲ ು, Pattadakalu ) is a village in Karnataka.

The earliest Nagar temples are in Karnataka ( e. g. Galaganath at Pattadakal ) and some very early Dravida-style temples ( e. g. Teli-ka-Mandir at Gwalior ) are actually in North India.

Early beginnings of Hindu temple architecture have been traced to the remains at Aihole and Pattadakal in present day Karnataka, and have Vedic altars and late Vedic temples as described by Pāṇini as models.
