Saint Boniface used Bede's homilies in his missionary efforts on the continent.

Saint Bruno of Querfurt ( c. 974 – February 14, 1009 ), also known as Brun and Boniface, is a sainted missionary bishop and martyr, who was beheaded near the border of Kievan Rus and Lithuania while trying to spread Christianity in Eastern Europe.

Charles also did much to support Winfrid, later Saint Boniface, the " Apostle of the Germans.

It is frequently traced to the symbolism of evergreen trees in supposed " pre-Christian winter rites ", especially with the story of the Donar Oak and Saint Boniface.

The town is first mentioned in 742 under the name of " Erphesfurt ": in that year, Saint Boniface writes Pope Zachary to tell him that he had established three dioceses in Thuringia, one of which " in a place called Erphesfurt, which for a long time has been inhabited by pagan natives.

Thenceforth the great abbeys and episcopal seats that Saint Boniface and his successors had established in southwestern Germany had a monopoly on temporal office in Franconia, on a par with the counts of lands further west.

Pope Saint Boniface IV ( c. 550 – 25 May 615 ) was pope from 608 to his death, and is also considered a Roman Catholic saint.

Between 612 and 615, the Irish missionary Saint Columban, then living at Bobbio in Italy, was persuaded by Agilulf, King of the Lombards, to address a letter on the condemnation of the " Three Chapters " to Boniface IV.

Boniface completed and consecrated the cemetery of Saint Nicomedes on the Via Nomentana.

Saint Birgitta of Sweden was canonized by Pope Boniface IX on 7 October 1391.

Gregory also promoted the Church in northern Europe ; he supported the continuing mission of Saint Boniface in Germany, elevating him to the rank of archbishop of Germany in 732, and after a personal visit to Rome from Boniface in 737, where he was meant to attend a synod which does not appear to have been held, Gregory made Boniface a Papal legate in Germany, and asked him to reorganize the Episcopal sees in Germany.

A correspondence of considerable extent and of great interest between Zachary and Saint Boniface, the apostle of Germany, survives, and shows how great was the influence of this pope on events in France and Germany.

Saint Boniface () ( c. 7th century – 5 June 754 ), the Apostle of the Germans, born Winfrid, Wynfrith, or Wynfryth in the kingdom of Wessex, probably at Crediton ( now in Devon, England ), was a missionary who propagated Christianity in the Frankish Empire during the 8th century.

Aurelius Ambrosius, better known in English as Saint Ambrose ( c. 330 – 4 April 397 ), was an archbishop of Milan who became one of the most influential ecclesiastical figures of the 4th century.

Saint Adalbert, Czech: ;, ( c. 956 – April 23, 997 ), Czech Roman Catholic saint, a Bishop of Prague and a missionary, was martyred in his efforts to convert the Baltic Prussians.

He was soon producing some spectacular and original images, notably Nemesis ( 1502 ), The Sea Monster ( 1498 ), and Saint Eustace ( c. 1501 ), with a highly detailed landscape background and animals.
