At this time the Stone Roses decided to capitalise on their success by signing to a major label ; then, their current record label Silvertone would not let them out of their contract, which led to a long legal battle that culminated with the band signing with Geffen Records in 1991, and then releasing their second album Second Coming in 1994.

New indie label Silvertone Records offered Kember a generous one-off album deal which he accepted.

They did not face the public again until the end of 1994, spending the intervening time in and out of studios in Wales-where they recorded a second album, Second Coming-and fighting in court to release themselves from their contract with Silvertone Records.

In 2003, he oversaw the remastering of the The Stone Roses compilation on Silvertone and produced the One Minute Silence album “ One Lie Fits All ” for Taste Media.

The group changed its name to the " Silvertone Singers " after moving to Knoxville, Tennessee and obtaining their own radio show in order to avoid confusion with another group known as the " Four Kings of Harmony.

Silvertone was the brand name used by Sears, Roebuck and Company for its line of sound equipment from 1915 to 1972.

The Silvertone name adorned guitars from several different manufacturers over the years, including Danelectro, National, Harmony, Kay and Teisco.

He played bass with San Francisco punk band The Avengers but become better known as lead guitarist with Stockton crooner Chris Isaak and his band Silvertone, and featured in Isaak's solo albums Silvertone, Chris Isaak, Heart Shaped World, and San Francisco Days.
