One " documentary " episode spoofed John Lennon's 1966 infamous comment that The Beatles had become " more popular than Jesus ", by recalling how the Chipmunks had fallen in popularity after Alvin boasted they were " bigger than Mickey Mouse !".

The Beatles song " Norwegian Wood ", which first appeared on the band's 1965 album Rubber Soul, was the first western pop song to actually incorporate the sitar ( played by lead guitarist George Harrison ).

Mercury was influenced early on by the Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar along with western influences such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and The Beatles.

It was recorded in 1968 for the album The Beatles ( aka " The White Album "), but was not used.

You know, that was the best thing about The Beatles, until we started to break up, like during the White Album and stuff.

The White Album session versions of " Not Guilty " and " What's The New Mary Jane ", a version of " Teddy Boy ", and a demo of " Junk " were ultimately released on the Beatles Anthology 3 album in 1996.

Although " Hey Jude " was not intended to be included on any LP release, it was recorded during the White Album sessions and was issued as a single nearly three months before the release of The Beatles.

Interviewed for the Beatles Anthology, Starr said that he now felt that it should have been released as two separate albums ( that he appropriately named The White Album and The Whiter Album ).

The White Album was notable for blocking The Beatles ' follow-up album, Yellow Submarine, which debuted ( and peaked at ) number 3 on 8 February 1969, the same week The White Album was dominating the second position on the charts.

A well-known example of an unofficial video include one made for Danger Mouse's illegal mash-up of the Jay-Z track " Encore " with music sampled from The Beatles ' White Album, in which concert footage of The Beatles is remixed with footage of Jay-Z and rap dancers.

Another album recorded in 1974 that was rejected by Word Records was Streams of White Light Into Darkened Corners, a documentary album that took " a satirical look at the early 1970s ' religious pop music ' trend from 1970 to 1974 ", written by celebrities who had " jumped on the ` 70s spiritual bandwagon ", and featured Norman singing covers of religious songs by Norman Greenbaum, Paul Simon, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Randy Newman, Leon Russell, Jackson Browne, and the Rolling Stones, and was not released until 1977 by AB Records.

Terry Knight, a singer on Capitol Records, had witnessed the Beatles ' White Album session during which drummer Ringo Starr had walked out and, in May 1969, released a song called " Saint Paul " about the impending break-up of The Beatles.

Despite his departure from the " White Album " sessions, Emerick remained on good terms with the Beatles, particularly Paul McCartney, who invited Emerick to quit EMI and come work for their company, Apple Corps Ltd., in 1969.

The White dwarf star BPM 37093, which contains a core of crystallised carbon roughly 4000 km in diameter, is informally named " Lucy " as a tribute to The Beatles ' song.
