Although organised around the Hilchot of the Rif, it is, in fact, an independent work.

This work resembles the Hilchot of the Rif ( Rabbi Isaac Alfasi )-also an adumbration-but differs in quoting later authorities: Maimonides, the Tosafists and Alfasi himself.

Sefer ha-Halachot ( ספר ההלכות ; also referred to as " the Hilchot of the Rif ") extracts all the pertinent legal decisions from the three Talmudic orders Moed, Nashim and Nezikin as well as the tractates of Berachot and Chulin-24 tractates in all.

This work traces the Halakha from the Torah text and the Talmud through the Rishonim, with the Hilchot of Alfasi as its starting point.

The learning of the Tosafists, but not the literature on Ashkenazic customs as such, was imported into Spain by Asher ben Yeḥiel, a German-born scholar who became chief rabbi of Toledo and the author of the Hilchot ha-Rosh-an elaborate Talmudic commentary, which became the third of the great Spanish authorities after Alfasi and Maimonides.

The Hilchot soon superseded the geonic codes, as it contained all the decisions and laws then relevant, and additionally, served as an accessible Talmudic commentary ; it has been printed with almost every subsequent edition of the Talmud.

He called his outlook Hilchot Deot Vechovot Halevavot, (" Laws ' Ideas ' and ' Duties the Heart '") and wrote in a poetic modern-style Hebrew reminiscent of his original mentor Kook's style, even though almost all of Hutner's original lectures were delivered in Yiddish.

This is based on the statement in Hilchot Melachim 12: 5 that " the entire world's ( kol ha ' olam ) occupation will be nothing but to know G ‑ d.

Continuing the text in Hilchot Melachim 12: 5, Maimonides explicitly changes the topic to Jews and by using the term Yisra ' el, explaining that " Therefore, the Jews will be great sages and know the hidden matters, grasping the knowledge of their Creator according to the full extent of human potential ," indicating that Jew and Gentile will co-exist in the time of the Messiah .< ref > Shneersohn, Menachem Mendel.

" The RAMBAM continues in " Hilchot Teshuvah " ( 3: 4 ) "… Every person should view himself all year as if he were half innocent and half guilty.

In writing the Shulchan Aruch, Rabbi Karo based his rulings on three authorities — Maimonides ( Rambam ), Asher ben Jehiel ( Rosh ), and Isaac Alfasi ( Rif ); he considered the Mordechai in inconclusive cases.

Isaac ben Jacob Alfasi ha-Cohen ( 1013-1103 ) ( Hebrew: ר ' יצחק אלפסי )-also known as the Alfasi or by his Hebrew acronym Rif ( Rabbi Isaac al-Fasi ), was a Talmudist and posek ( decider in matters of halakha-Jewish law ).

Firstly, " the Rif " succeeded in producing a Digest, which became the object of close study, and led in its turn to the great Codes of Maimonides and of Rabbi Joseph Karo.

Rabbi Nissim of Gerona ( the RaN ) compiled a detailed and explicit commentary on this work ; In yeshivot " the Rif and the RaN " are regularly studied as part of the daily Talmudic schedule.

* Isaac Alfasi, ( the Rif ), 11th century North African and Spanish Talmudist and Halakhist ; author of " Sefer Ha-halachoth ".

His most famous student is probably Isaac Alfasi ( the " Rif ").

The reign of Alfonso XIII ( 1886 – 1931 ) saw the Spanish-American War of 1898, culminating in the loss of the Philippines plus Spain's last colonies in the Americas, Cuba and Puerto Rico ; the " Great War " in Europe ( now known as World War I, 1914 – 1918 ), although Spain maintained neutrality throughout the conflict ; the influenza pandemic nicknamed the Spanish Flu ( 1918 – 1919 ); and the Rif War in Morocco ( 1920 – 1926 ).

Very critical of the actions of the government and army during the Rif War or " War of Melilla " ( 1919 – 1926 ), he spoke out strongly in the Congress after the Battle of Annual ( 1921 ), as well as on the more than probable, though unproven, responsibility of the king in the imprudent military actions of general Manuel Fernández Silvestre in the Melilla command zone.

General José Sanjurjo y Sacanell, 1st Marquis of the Rif ( March 28, 1872 – July 20, 1936 ) was a General in the Spanish Army who was one of the chief conspirators in the military uprising that led to the Spanish Civil War.

The treaty was perceived as a betrayal by Moroccan nationalists and led to the War of the Rif ( 1919 – 26 ) between the Spanish and the Moroccan Rif and the Jibala tribes, whose leader Abd el-Krim soon emerged and founded a short-lived nationalist Republic of the Rif.

The second Rif War ( 1909 – 10 ) was initially a fiasco for the under-equipped and undertrained Spanish, until heavy artillery was brought in ; in the aftermath of the war, Spain began to raise units of local Regulares.
