The famous Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook stated that love is the most important attribute in humanity.

# According to Rabbi Jose b. Hanina, each of the Patriarchs instituted one prayer: Abraham the morning, Isaac the afternoon and Jacob the evening prayers.

These four are all roshei yeshiva ( i. e., rabbinic leaders ) at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University, the largest and most influential Modern Orthodox rabbinic program in America.

When his family fled Spain, for Fez, Maimonides enrolled in the Academy of Fez and studied under Rabbi Yehuda Ha-Kohen Ibn Soussan-a student of Isaac Alfasi.

He noted that it had never been his intention to abolish Talmudic studies, nor had he ever said that there was no need of the " Halakot " of Rabbi Isaac Alfasi, for he himself had lectured to his pupils on the Gemara and, at their request, upon Alfasi's work ( Responsa, No. 140 ).

He used the code of Rabbi Isaac Alfasi as his starting point ; these views are then compared to those of Maimonides, as well as to the Ashkenazi traditions contained in the Tosafist literature.

( Karo had used a similar method in composing his Shulchan Aruch where his references were to Rabbi Isaac Alfasi, Maimonides and Rabbi Asher ben Jehiel.

Isaac ben Jacob Alfasi ha-Cohen ( 1013-1103 ) ( Hebrew: ר ' יצחק אלפסי )-also known as the Alfasi or by his Hebrew acronym Rif ( Rabbi Isaac al-Fasi ), was a Talmudist and posek ( decider in matters of halakha-Jewish law ).

When Alfasi was himself on the point of death, he recommended as his successor in the Lucena rabbinate, not his own son, but his pupil Rabbi Joseph ibn Migash.

Rabbeinu Abraham ben David was a Provençal rabbi, a great commentator on the Talmud, Sefer Halachot of Rabbi Yitzhak Alfasi and Mishne Torah of Maimonides, and is regarded as a father of Kabbalah and one of the key and important links in the chain of Jewish mystics.

The Mordechai although linked textually with the Halakhot of Rabbi Isaac Alfasi, is, in fact, an independent work.

Rabbi Nissim of Gerona ( the RaN ) compiled a detailed and explicit commentary on this work ; In yeshivot " the Rif and the RaN " are regularly studied as part of the daily Talmudic schedule.

According to the Talmud ( Avodah Zarah 10a-b ), Rabbi Judah was very wealthy and greatly revered in Rome.

Deeply involved in the future of the Jews in the former Soviet Union, Steinsaltz serves as the region's Duchovny Ravin ( Spiritual Rabbi ), a historic Russian title which indicates that he is the spiritual mentor of Russian Jewry.

The philosopher and astronomer Rabbi Abraham ibn Ezra ( c. 1140 ) established the symmetry of binomial coefficients, while a closed formula was obtained later by the talmudist and mathematician Levi ben Gerson ( better known as Gersonides ), in 1321.

Rabbi Yedidiah Tiah Weil ( 1721 – 1805 ), a Prague resident, who described the creation of golems, including those created by Rabbi Avigdor Kara of Prague, did not mention the Maharal, and Rabbi Meir Perels ' biography of the Maharal published in 1718 does not mention a golem.

The Jewish calendar's epoch ( reference date ), 1 Tishrei 1 AM, is equivalent to Monday, 7 October 3761 BCE in the proleptic Julian calendar, the equivalent tabular date ( same daylight period ) and is about one year before the traditional Jewish date of Creation on 25 Elul AM 1, based upon the Seder Olam Rabbah of Rabbi Yossi ben Halafta, a 2nd century CE sage.

The Kitzur Shulchan Aruch of Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried ( Hungary 1804 – 1886 ), based on the very strict Hungarian customs of the 19th century, became immensely popular after its publication due to its simplicity.

By the time of Rabbi Judah haNasi ( 200 CE ), after the destruction of Jerusalem, much of this material was edited together into the Mishnah.

The Medieval rabbinic figure Maimonides ( Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon ), also known as the Rambam, wrote a commentary to tractate Sanhedrin stressing a relatively naturalistic interpretation of the Messiah and de-emphasizing miraculous elements.

Rabbi Dr. Immanuel Jakobovits, in his entry Homosexuality in the Encyclopedia Judaica ( Keter Publishing ), describes the traditional opinion in this way:

His A Rabbi Talks with Jesus ( Philadelphia, 1993 ; translated into German, Italian, and Swedish ), attempts to establish a religiously sound framework for Judaic-Christian interchange.

Founded by Rabbi Meir Kahane in the early 1970s, and following his Jewish nationalist ideology ( subsequently dubbed Kahanism ), the party entered the Knesset in 1984 after several electoral failures.
