William Thornton, Daniel Troutman and Daniel W. Wooliver were among the 1829 settlers, followed by William Blackwell, Elisha Nelson, Jerry Potts, Ephraim Bressie, Robert Leonard, Abner Wingfield, Lewis Dent, Wilson Craddock, Thomas Higginbotham, Jack Berry, Silas Hamby, Smith Wofford, Turkill McNeill, Dr. John Hyer, Samuel Hyer and David Lenox.

The first individuals to own the land upon which Basehor now stands were Thomas S. and Mary Z. Townest ( though William Henery Lewis, who surveyed for the Railroad, bought an exstensive plot on land to the northeast of Basehor around 1861 and homsteaded it right after the civil war ) The couple bought it from the railroad in 1873 and mortgaged it to Ephraim Basehor the same year.

Wellington was settled in 1818 by Ephraim Wilcox, Charles Sweet, William T. Welling, John Clifford, and Joseph Wilson from the states of Massachusetts and New York.

They had five sons and six daughters, Caroline ( 1862-1941 ), Frances ( 1864-1930 ), Edmund ( 1866-1938 ), Lydia ( 1868-1962 ), Nina ( 1870-1965 ), Elizabeth ( 1872-1937 ), Reynold ( 1874-1962 ), William ( 1876-1967 ), Josephine ( 1878-1961 ), Joseph ( 1882-1951 ), and Ephraim ( 1884-1940 ).

William Ephraim Smith

He is a direct ancestor of West Virginia Governor Ephraim F. Morgan ( 1869 – 1950 ) and Congressman William S. Morgan ( 1801 – 1878 ).

He was also the father of Ephraim King Wilson II and William Sydney Wilson.

Snow Canyon State Park ( near St. George, Utah ), Snow College ( in Ephraim, Utah along with Lorenzo Snow ) and the town of Snowflake, Arizona ( along with William J. Flake ) are named after Erastus Snow.
