Anne Brontë (; 17 January 1820 – 28 May 1849 ) was a British novelist and poet, the youngest member of the Brontë literary family.

The daughter of a poor Irish clergyman in the Church of England, Anne Brontë lived most of her life with her family at the parish of Haworth on the Yorkshire moors.

Anne, the youngest member of the Brontë children, was born on 17 January 1820, at 74 Market Street in Thornton where her father was curate and she was baptised there on 25 March 1820.

All three Brontë sisters worked as governesses or teachers, and all experienced problems controlling their charges, gaining support from their employers, and coping with homesickness — but Anne was the only one who persevered and made a success of her work.

Emily was the third eldest of the four surviving Brontë siblings, between the youngest Anne and her brother Branwell.

The Brontë sisters had adopted pseudonyms for publication: Charlotte was Currer Bell, Emily was Ellis Bell and Anne was Acton Bell.

Anne Brontë published The Tenant of Wildfell Hall under the name Acton Bell.

Blenheim was followed in rapid succession by Ramillies And The Union With Scotland and by The Peace And The Protestant Succession, the three forming together a detailed picture of England under Queen Anne.

In poultry judging, blues were won by John Nyberg of Tualatin, Anne Batchelder of Hillsboro, Jim Shaw of Hillsboro, Stephanie Shaw of Hillsboro and Lynn Robinson of Tigard.

She was withdrawn from school by October, and replaced by Anne.

However, despite her outwardly placid appearance, Anne was determined, and with experience, made a success of her position, becoming well liked by her employers.

The Bill of Rights also stated that the line of succession would go through their descendants, then through Mary's sister Princess Anne, and her descendants, and then to the issue of William III by a later marriage ( if he were to marry again after the death of Mary II ).

Thus, there was seen a need for a new law that would ensure the continuance of the succession following the death of the last legal heir under the Bill of Rights, being Princess Anne, guaranteeing the line of succession would continue in the Protestant line, and excluding any possible claims by the deposed James II or his son and daughter, James Francis Edward and Louisa Maria Teresa Stuart.

Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Singer series posited an instantaneous communication device powered by rare, ' Black Crystal ' from the planet Ballybran.

Anne is intrigued by him, but fails to understand his real meaning.

In 1839 he settled his private life by marrying Mary Anne Lewis, the rich widow of Wyndham Lewis, Disraeli's erstwhile colleague at Maidstone.

Several of Ochino's Prediche were also translated into English by a lady, Anna Cooke ( or Anne Cooke ; b. 1533 ) afterwards second wife of Sir Nicholas Bacon ; and he published numerous controversial treatises on the Continent.

The first recorded use of the term is in a 1964 letter by Anne Ewing to the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Thackeray ’ s daughter, the writer Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie recalled a visit to her father by Charlotte:

The death of William III in 1702 once again created a political upheaval as the king was replaced by Queen Anne, who immediately began her offensive against Nonconformists.

The dukedom was created in 1702 by Queen Anne ; John Churchill, whose wife was a favourite of the queen, had earlier been made Lord Churchill of Eyemouth in the Scottish peerage ( 1682 ), which became extinct with his death, and Earl of Marlborough ( 1689 ) by King William III.

Four more children followed: Charlotte, ( 1816 – 1855 ), Patrick Branwell ( 1817 – 1848 ), Emily, ( 1818 – 1848 ) and Anne ( 1820 – 1849 ).

Around 1831, when Anne was eleven, she and Emily broke away from Charlotte and Branwell to create and develop their own fantasy world, Gondal.

Anne took lessons from Charlotte, after she returned from Roe Head.

Anne and Charlotte do not appear to have been close while at Roe Head ( Charlotte's letters almost never mention her ) but Charlotte was concerned about her sister's health.

Charlotte wrote to her father who took Anne home where she remained while she recovered.

In 1701, senior living representatives of lines passed over in favor of Sophia included Elizabeth Charlotte, Duchess of Orléans, Louis Otto, Prince of Salm and his sisters, Anne Henriette, Princess of Condé, Benedicta Henrietta, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and Sophia's sister Louise Hollandine of the Palatinate.

Anne does not want to accept the invitation, but Charlotte convinces her to do so to heighten the contrast between the older woman and the young teenager.

Charlotte and Branwell wrote Byronic stories about their imagined country, " Angria ", and Emily and Anne wrote articles and poems about " Gondal ".

In May 1846 Charlotte, Emily and Anne self-financed the publication of a joint collection of poetry under the assumed names of Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell.

" Biographical Notice of Ellis and Acton Bell " that their " ambiguous choice " was " dictated by a sort of conscientious scruple at assuming Christian names positively masculine, while we did not like to declare ourselves women, because ... we had a vague impression that authoresses are liable to be looked on with prejudice " Charlotte contributed 20 poems, and Emily and Anne each contributed 21.

Many modern writers of horror ( or indeed other types of fiction ) exhibit considerable Gothic sensibilities — examples include the works of Anne Rice, as well as some of the sensationalist works of Stephen King The Romantic strand of Gothic was taken up in Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca ( 1938 ) which is in many respects a reworking of Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre.

Upon Sophia's death, her eldest son Elector George Louis of Brunswick-Lüneburg ( 1660 – 1727 ) became heir presumptive in her place, and weeks later, succeeded Queen Anne as George I. Sophia's daughter Sophia Charlotte of Hanover ( 1668 – 1705 ) married Frederick I of Prussia, from whom the later Prussian Kings descend.

Some believe tatting originated over 200 years ago, often citing shuttles seen in eighteenth century paintings of women such as Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Madame Adelaide ( daughter of Louis XV of France ), and Anne, Countess of Albemarle.
