John Malcolm Fraser AC, CH, GCL, PC (; born 21 May 1930 ) is a former Liberal Party politician who was the 22nd Prime Minister of Australia.

Malcolm Fraser's father, John Neville Fraser, was a pastoralist at Deniliquin in the Riverina region of New South Wales and later at a property called " Nareen ", near Hamilton in the Western District of Victoria.

In 1993 Fraser made a bid for the Liberal Party presidency but withdrew at the last minute following opposition to his bid due to Fraser being critical of then Liberal leader John Hewson for losing the election earlier that year.

An illustrative example is the Australian constitutional crises of 1975, when the Governor-General of Australia, Sir John Kerr, dismissed Prime Minister Gough Whitlam on his own reserve power authority and replaced him with Opposition Leader Malcolm Fraser.

It was later joined by the heads of the brothers, John and Simon Fraser.

McEwen's opposition forced McMahon to withdraw from the leadership ballot and opened the way for the successful campaign to promote the Minister for Education and Science, Senator John Gorton, to the Prime Ministership with the support of a group led by Defence Minister Malcolm Fraser.

The Whitlam Government ended in 1975 with a dramatic constitutional crisis in which the Queen's representative, the Governor-General ( then John Kerr ), dismissed Whitlam and his entire ministry, appointing Opposition Leader Malcolm Fraser in his place.

That same year, John Fraser, English nurseryman and later botanical collector to the Czar of Russia, brought D. coccinea seeds from Paris to the Apothecaries Gardens in England, where they flowered in his greenhouse a year later, providing Botanical Magazine with an illustration.

On November 24, the two friends set sail for Cuba where they met fellow botanist and plant collector John Fraser, and after a stay of some months they regained the mainland at Cartagena, Colombia.
