Nukata no Ōkimi, Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, Yamabe no Akahito, Yamanoue no Okura, Ōtomo no Tabito and his son Yakamochi were the greatest poets in this anthology.

The Ōtomo and Mononobe clans were the military leaders, and the Nakatomi and Inbe clans handled rituals.

His family were members of the aristocratic Saeki family, a branch of the ancient Ōtomo clan.

The Ōtomo clan were warriors and bureaucrats in the Yamato Court, and Yakamochi served as a in several provinces.

Through this, Munakata, Onga and Kurate were protected from invasion by other daimyos such as Tachibana Dōsetsu and the Ōtomo clan.

Also included were heirs to lords whose domains were confiscated ( for example, Asano Daigaku, the brother of Asano Naganori ), local power figures in remote parts of the country who never became daimyo ; and the families of Kamakura Period and Muromachi Period Shugo ( Governors ): some of these include the Akamatsu, Besshō ( branch of the Akamatsu ), Hōjō, Hatakeyama, Kanamori, Imagawa, Mogami, Nagai, Oda, Ōtomo, Takeda, Toki, Takenaka ( branch of the Toki ), Takigawa, Tsutsui, and Yamana families.

In this way, the Shimazu were able to defeat much larger clans such as the Itō, Ryūzōji and Ōtomo.

The significant waka poets in this period were Ōtomo no Tabito, Yamanoue no Okura, and Yamabe no Akahito.

Among her offspring were Emperor Yōmei, Empress Suiko and Princess Ōtomo.

Xavier and other Jesuit missionaries would return to Kyūshū, traveling and proselytizing ; the Ōtomo were always well-disposed towards them, and they saw some success in Bungo as a result, converting many Japanese to Christianity.

Towards the end of the 16th century, the Ōtomo fought both the Shimazu and Mori clans, of whom the latter were expert sailors.

A manga titled Saber Marionette i ~ Neo Gene ~ illustrated by Megane Ōtomo started its serialization in July 2008 in Fujimi Shobo's Gekkan Dragon Age and was finally compiled in one tankoubon.

A powerful clan throughout the Sengoku period ( 1467-1573 ), the Ōtomo are especially notable as one of the first clans to make contact with Europeans, and to establish a trade relationship with them.

The Soga clan provided the highest minister in the government, while the Ōtomo and Mononobe clans provided the second highest ministers.

Alongside the Shōni clan, whose hereditary clan heads now regularly operated under Sō clan guidance, the Sō fought the Ōuchi numerous times across the Sengoku period ( 1467-1600 ), and later the Mōri and Ōtomo clans as well ; the clan lost and regained their territory in Chikuzen province on Kyūshū many times over the course of the period.

This title was given to descendants of great dispossessed daimyō such as the Takeda, Hatakeyama, Imagawa, Oda, and Ōtomo clans.

By tradition the muraji clans claimed descent from mythological gods ( 神別氏族, shinbetsu shizoku ) and included such clans as the Ōtomo ( 大伴 ), the Nakatomi ( 中臣 ), the Mononobe ( 物部 ) and the Inbe ( 忌部 ).

Mancio Itō was chosen to act as a spokesman for the group dispatched by Ōtomo Sōrin, who was daimyō of the Bungo Province on Kyūshū and a close relative of Mancio's father ; Shurinosuke Itō.

Since Ōtomo had weak political support from his maternal relatives, the general wisdom of the time held that it was not a good idea for him to ascend to the throne, yet Tenji was obsessed with the idea.

When Emperor Buretsu died with no apparent heir, it was Ōtomo no Kanamura who recommended Emperor Keitai, a very distant imperial relative who resided in Koshi Province, as the new monarch.

At the end of the 1990s he founded Ōtomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Ensemble, a group that played more traditional jazz ( albeit with added sine waves from Sachiko M and noisy passages ), which released Flutter and Dreams on the Tzadik label.

In Japan, a more consistent lineup of the group, using the name Ōtomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Quintet, has released ONJQ LIVE ( 2002 ), a collaboration with Tatsuya Oe ( Captain Funk ) entitled ONJQ + OE ( 2003 ), and Tails Out ( 2003 ).

Ōtomo has also released duo albums with early experimental turntablist Christian Marclay ( Moving Parts, 2000 ) and another Japanese electronic musician, Nobukazu Takemura ( Turntables + Computers, 2003 ).

Ōtomo has worked with Jon Rose, Yamatsuka Eye of Boredoms ( as MC Hellshit & DJ Carhouse ), Butch Morris, Alfred Harth, Voice Crack, Keith Rowe, Peter Rehberg, Toshimaru Nakamura, Bill Laswell, David Sylvian, Fennesz, Derek Bailey, Sachiko M, Hoppy Kamiyama, Mats Gustafsson, The Thing, John Zorn, Hikashu, Philip Jeck, Martin Tétreault, Sabuhiro Toyozumi, Thermo and poire z.

In 2003, Ōtomo worked with Bill Laswell and Yasuhiro Yoshigaki to record a four song LP Soup.

In 2006, Ōtomo and Laswell again teamed up this time with Tatsuya Yoshida to release Episome.

Ōtomo also has a quartet with three other musicians from different parts of Asia.

The earliest renga recorded is in the Man ' yōshū, where Ōtomo no Yakamochi and a made and exchanged poems with sound unit counts (" on ") of 5-7-5 and 7-7.

* Ryūzaburō Ōtomo as: The first demon to be defeated, he is an incredibly large man who has the ability to turn his skin as hard as rock and fights with a staff with large sword blades on each end.

Years later at 23 years old, he is working for a second rate newspaper and with permission leaves to go back to Ōtomo City to search for the legendary figure, Skull Man who by rumors had recently killed an actress.

The Jesuit missionary Francis Xavier arrived in Japan in 1549, and soon afterwards met with Ōtomo Sōrin, shugo of Bungo and Buzen provinces, who would later be described by Xavier as a " king " and convert to Roman Catholicism in 1578.

Ōtomo was eager to secure for his clan further trade and contact with the Portuguese, seeing the technological and, more importantly perhaps, economic benefits that could be derived.

In 1552, emissaries from the Ōtomo clan traveled to Goa with Xavier, to meet with the Portuguese Governor of India.

By trying to negotiate a peace between such well known daimyo as Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin, Shimazu Takahisa, Ōtomo Yoshishige, Mōri Motonari, and Amago Haruhisa, the shogun's authority was again recognized by various daimyo.

On 1578, Ōtomo Yoshishige attacked Shimazu clan and Arinobu gathered 500 troops to hold ground at Taka Castle.

Through the merger, they gained the combined talents and experience of actors Chiezō Kataoka, Utaemon Ichikawa, Ryunosuke Tsukigata, Ryūtarō Ōtomo, Kinnosuke Nakamura, Chiyonosuke Azuma, Shirunosuke Toshin, Hashizo Okawa and Satomi Oka.

In his old age, Tenji had a son, Prince Ōtomo, by a low-ranking consort.

In 1578, he defeated the Ōtomo clan at the battle of Mimigawa, in 1583 against Ryūzōji clan, and on 1584 against Aso clan.

His granduncle is possibly Ōtomo no Komaro who came to Japan in the time of Empress Jitō.

* Ōmuraji ( Great Deity chieftain ): Ōtomo Kanamura Maro, also known as Nakatomi no Kanamura.

* Udaijin, Ōtomo no Nagatoko ( 大伴長徳 ) (?– 651 ), 649 – 651.

In the end, he was succeeded by his son, Prince Ōtomo, also known as Emperor Kōbun, then by Tenji's brother Prince Ōama, also known as Emperor Temmu.

Prince Ōtomo ( Ōtomo-shinnō ) was the favorite son of Emperor Tenji ; and he was also the first to be accorded the title of Daijō-daijin.

Prince Ōtomo was only given his posthumous title and name in 1870.

For centuries, the hapless Prince Ōtomo was not considered to have been a part of the traditional order of succession.

A year later, ( in 672 ) Tenji died and Prince Ōtomo ascended to the throne as Emperor Kōbun.

The compiler, or the last in a series of compilers, is today widely believed to be Ōtomo no Yakamochi, although numerous other theories have been proposed.

The third period spans 700 – c. 730 and covers the works of such poets as Yamabe no Akahito, Ōtomo no Tabito and Yamanoue no Okura.

The fourth period spans 730 – 760 and includes the work of the last great poet of this collection, the compiler Ōtomo no Yakamochi himself, who not only wrote many original poems but also edited, updated and refashioned an unknown number of ancient poems.

Ōtomo no Otomaro became the first Sei-i Taishōgun in history.

The editor of the Man ' yōshū is anonymous, but it is believed that the final editor was Ōtomo no Yakamochi.

As a 17-year-old teenager, he discovered comic books, and became a fan of creators such as John Byrne, Jack Kirby, Frank Miller and George Pérez ( as well as the writing of Alan Moore ), but was especially drawn to the more atypical art of Michael Golden and Katsuhiro Ōtomo, creator of the manga Akira.

The first to receive this title was Ōtomo no Otomaro.

* Ōtomo no Yakamochi ( c. 717 – 785 ): Man ' yōshū

After Kazuraki declined in the late 5th century, the Ōtomo clan temporarily took its place.

The success of this album brought them to the attention of Katsuhiro Ōtomo, who commissioned them to create the soundtrack of Akira.

At that time, many prominent gokenin, including the Mori clan ( 1221 ) and the Ōtomo clan, moved from the east to the west.
