A manga titled Saber Marionette i ~ Neo Gene ~ illustrated by Megane Ōtomo started its serialization in July 2008 in Fujimi Shobo's Gekkan Dragon Age and was finally compiled in one tankoubon.
A powerful clan throughout the Sengoku period ( 1467-1573 ), the Ōtomo are especially notable as one of the first clans to make contact with Europeans, and to establish a trade relationship with them.

In 2003, Ōtomo worked with Bill Laswell and Yasuhiro Yoshigaki to record a four song LP Soup.
In 2006, Ōtomo and Laswell again teamed up this time with Tatsuya Yoshida to release Episome.
Ōtomo also has a quartet with three other musicians from different parts of Asia.
The earliest renga recorded is in the Man ' yōshū, where Ōtomo no Yakamochi and a made and exchanged poems with sound unit counts (" on ") of 5-7-5 and 7-7.

In the end, he was succeeded by his son, Prince Ōtomo, also known as Emperor Kōbun, then by Tenji's brother Prince Ōama, also known as Emperor Temmu.
