Trumbo was born in Montrose, Colorado, the son of Maud ( née Tillery ) and Orus Bonham Trumbo, and his family moved to Grand Junction in 1908.

Robert Plant asked Page if he had a drummer, and Page said that he was still looking for one, and Robert brought him to see John Bonham in action.
