Some 45 frequencies are assigned for use primarily by dominant Class 1, -- A or Class 1, -- B clear-channel stations, designed to operate with adequate power and to provide service -- both groundwave and ( at night ) skywave -- over large areas and at great distances, being protected against interference to the degree necessary to achieve this objective.

Class B amplifiers have a very high efficiency but are impractical for audio work because of high levels of distortion ( See: Crossover distortion ).

Class AB is widely considered a good compromise for audio amplifiers, since much of the time the music is quiet enough that the signal stays in the " class A " region, where it is amplified with good fidelity, and by definition if passing out of this region, is large enough that the distortion products typical of class B are relatively small.

Class B has a maximum theoretical efficiency of π / 4.

Class AB sacrifices some efficiency over class B in favor of linearity, thus is less efficient ( below 78. 5 % for full-amplitude sinewaves in transistor amplifiers, typically ; much less is common in class-AB vacuum-tube amplifiers ).

Emulsifying agents are effective at extinguishing fires on small, thin-layer spills of flammable liquids ( Class B fires ).

* New York State classifies felonies by letter, with some classes divided into sub-classes by Roman numeral ; classes range from Class E ( encompassing the least severe felonies ) through Classes D, C, B, and A – II up to Class A – I ( encompassing the most severe ).

; Class B: Can be connected to GPRS service and GSM service ( voice, SMS ), but using only one or the other at a given time.

Most GPRS mobile devices are Class B.

Because the protocol has no field for a subnet mask, the router assumes that all subnetwork addresses within the same Class A, Class B, or Class C network have the same subnet mask as the subnet mask configured for the interfaces in question.

In order to make defective units obvious, glass units are designed with Class B construction, so that an overvoltage causes a puncture arc through the glass instead of a flashover.

A Class B mandate granted the right to administer the territories.

The second group of mandates, or Class B mandates, were all former Schutzgebiete ( German territories ) in West and Central Africa which were deemed to require a greater level of control by the mandatory power: "... the Mandatory must be responsible for the administration of the territory under conditions which will guarantee freedom of conscience and religion.

The Class B mandates were:

A Class B ( any school bus ), C ( any urban-transit-vehicle or highway-coach ), or D ( heavy trucks other than tractor-trailers ) license enables its holder to drive any truck-trailer combination with a registered-or actual-gross-vehicle-weight ( i. e., including towing-and towed-vehicle ) greater than 11 tonnes, that includes one trailer weighing no more than 4. 6 tonnes.

An example of airspace where CVFR is common would be Canadian Class B airspace.

In 1884, they delivered the first 3-cylinder ( Class B ) Shay, and in 1885, the first 3-truck ( Class C ) Shay.

The second largest Shay ever built, this 150 ton Class C locomotive was in service only five years when it was retired and placed in the B & O Railroad Museum.

There is a 28 Ton, narrow gauge Class B Shay locomotive No. 31, restored at the Alishan Forest Railway in Taiwan.

Class A Climaxes, unlike Heisler and Shay locomotives, had two-speed gearboxes.

As with Class C Shay locomotives, the tender rode on the third truck.

The all-time speed record for steam trains is held by an LNER Class A4 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive of the LNER in the United Kingdom, number 4468 Mallard, which pulling six carriages ( plus a dynamometer car ) reached 126 mph ( 203 km / h ) on a slight downhill gradient down Stoke Bank on 3 July 1938.
